As the seasons change and we enter into the heart of autumn it reminds us of this campaign we created for Quaker Oats entitled "The Joy Of Warmth".
We were honoured to receive the award for Best TV Campaign, Pepsi Canada 2018.
The key campaign insight was centred around warmth as a necessary good, especially for children. Based on research, there are many health benefits (emotional, mental and physical) to being warm. However, for many Canadian families in-need, warm winter clothing is out of reach. We reinforced this through a study by the Angus Reid Institute revealing, “for one in five Canadian families, proper winter clothing has been a luxury they can’t afford.”
So we created an emotive story, told across many channels, that would show the positivity and happiness that can result from being warm and that a warm winter coat lets “kids be kids.” To bring the idea into the real world, we also partnered with Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada to help deliver the coats (and oatmeal) to families in need, coast-to-coast.
The Results:

2.0pts increase in Quaker Hots Share
28M+ video views with a 92% CR.
3,000 warm coats donated to children at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada

Studio M Starwipes team cheer! Go Motionball!!
Studio M has been supporting a charity called motionball for Special Olympics for over a decade. Its mission is to introduce the next generation of Canadian young professionals and University Students to the Special Olympics movement through integrated social and sporting events. To date they have donated over $15m and in a normal year they would be running over 50 annual events throughout Canada.
Last year, when all events were cancelled, we helped motionball raise money during the pandemic by creating a National interactive TV show broadcast on Rogers Sportsnet. As part of #throwbackthursday fun, we have included the case study in this post. Have a watch!
But more urgently, as events are still facing restrictions, motionball needs your help this year more than ever. On Saturday September 25th motionball is hosting it's first ever Challenge 21 event here in Toronto. Studio M is putting a team in, and we hope you do the same.
Teams can be as large as 12 participants and you are connected immediately virtually with a Special Olympics athlete who you will get to know via zoom and hopefully even get a chance to meet him/her at the after party.
The event Opening Ceremonies is at the beautiful Rendezviews patio downtown and then your team will go off for 3 hours in the quest to complete 21 fun challenges. Once completed we all head back and meet at Rendezviews patio for the closing ceremonies; the award ceremony for top fundraisers and best teams and of course some great live music; DJ's and some tasty food and beverages.
There is no better event to promote employee engagement and for your team to understand the importance of Special Olympics.
Corporate teams are $5k and the package includes team shirts and hats and covid masks and of course recognition on all motionball toronto marketing material.
