Ontario public school enrolment has hit a turning point, with year-over-year declines now hitting nearly 60% of boards (especially steep in the GTA). Drivers include falling birth rates, immigration shifts, families leaving the region β€” plus a growing number of parents opting for private schools or home-schooling amid concerns over underfunding and insufficient supports for students with special needs. Fewer students mean tighter budgets, raising fears of deeper cuts that could push even more families away.

Wiggle Room on Dundas West just dropped a clear rule: no smart glasses (including Meta’s) allowed inside. The popular spot says the ban is about creating a safer dance floor and protecting the privacy of both guests and staff from hands-free, discreet recording.
Patrons are largely loving the move, with comments calling it a smart policy that should become standard. Ground Control has also made a similar announcement. In an era when wearable cameras can film without anyone noticing, a few Toronto spots are drawing a firm line.

The City of Toronto has issued an β€œorder to remedy an unsafe building” to Rogers Stadium after the concert venue was severely damaged by a severe storm on Sept. 2. 🏟️

The north stands collapsed and sections of seating were destroyed. No one was on the property at the time, and no injuries were reported. The venue must hire an engineer, submit a report by Sept. 8 and complete repairs by Sept. 11.

AC/DC is scheduled to perform Sept. 16. Councillor James Pasternak said the concert could still happen, but it’s β€œgetting less likely.” Live Nation said teams are assessing the damage and working with the city.

Premier Doug Ford announces a major investment in frontline policing, including $191 million to equip local forces with seven new helicopters. The aircraft will help police respond faster, crack down on auto theft and organized crime, and better protect Ontario communities. Ford recently visited the Peel Regional Police Air Support Unit hangar to see the first of the new helicopters in action.

The Bank of Canada has unveiled its first vertical $20 bank note, featuring a portrait of King Charles III on the front and the Canadian National Vimy Memorial on the back. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

This is Canada’s first bank note to feature King Charles and the first time in more than 70 years that a new monarch has appeared on the $20 denomination . The new note will gradually enter circulation in late February 2027.

The bill features advanced security features never before used on Canadian currency, including a purple security stripe with elements that spin, transform and pulse when the note is moved. Provincial and territorial floral emblems also appear on the front.

The Bank of Canada says the note reflects Canada’s history, sovereignty and commitment to security.
