I wish I painted more. So far I only seem to paint once a year for our family’s homemade secret Santa gift exchange. Painting is so soothing for me. It’s probably like fishing is for my cousin. It’s just not as convenient as drawing in my iPad so I do it less…

My first attempt at ink and nib drawing waaay back in the day. I drew this en plein air while wandering in Old Montreal.

Montreal always holds a social place in my heart. It’s where my mother grew up and I have fond memories of visiting with the family.

I always loved the Notre-Dame-de-Bonne-Secours Chapel because of the statue of ‘The Lady of the Harbour’ at the back, blessing the sailors on the St. Lawrence River.

Meet Zes!

He’s one of the main characters from my long form web comic Foot of the Mountain Comic. It is still in development. I have the first 20 pages drawn and inked…just need to colour them and add word bubbles. Writing and drawing an independent comic is a huge amount of work, but for better or worse I have a loosely structured story I need to get out of me. Haha. 😵‍💫

Anyhoo, I can’t wait for you to meet Zes when page 7 finally drops! 🎉

Listening to his interview on the Power of Myth really helped me through some existential dread back in 2017.

Serious question: What has helped you during times of existential dread?

You never know when it might pop up and I don’t think the Power of Myth is on Canadian Netflix anymore…haha.

I have been watching a lot of 90s Sailor Moon and it’s been a blast. My only problem is they don’t get into the complexity of my favourite sailor scout. She is the leader of the inner scouts, was the first to realize her scout identity (fighting evil at 13!), and in the manga she was the one who killed Queen Beryl…with a sword!

Anyhoo, I drew Sailor Venus cuz she freakin’ rules.
