Today near 1:20PM, members of Onslow Belmont Fire Brigade were called to a site of a piece of equipment on fire as part of a harvesting operation in their area. Because of its remote location, the UTV was taken in case needed and most apparatus were able to reach the fire.
It did not spread to any nearby woods which was the goal.

From Truro Police Service:

On June 3, 2026, at approximately 2:30pm, the Truro Police Service responded to the intersection of Young and Brunswick Street in relation to a severe traffic collision.
The Truro Police Service's Patrol Section and Traffic Section blocked off the immediate area to assist Truro Fire Service in safely removing the trapped vehicle occupants. Two individuals were transported to the hospital by EHS with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Truro Police Service continues to investigate this motor vehicle collision and is requesting anyone who had witnessed this accident or has information to contact 902-895-5351 and reference file number 2026757211

Truro Fire Service were tied up at this call for some time recently.
Please dispose of your batteries properly.
Drops offs are widely available, usually your local pharmacies and Enviro-Depots. Call Helpline 902-895-4777 to find the nearest one to you.

One day last week, a garbage truck experienced a fire within its load and was required to safely offload the contents in a nearby parking lot. Local firefighters responded quickly and successfully extinguished the fire.

It appears the cause may have been batteries or a battery-operated device improperly disposed of in the garbage. Batteries can ignite when damaged or compacted inside collection trucks, creating serious safety risks for drivers, firefighters, and the public.

Please DO NOT place batteries in your recycling or garbage bags. Please dispose of batteries safely by taking them to a battery drop off location, usually your local pharmacies and Enviro-Depots. Call Helpline 902-895-4777 to find the nearest one to you.

Great work Truro Police Service!

On June 2, 2026, at 6:33am, the Truro Police Service was requested to locate a vehicle believed to be in Truro, which was involved in a robbery in the Halifax Regional Municipality.

At 8:57am, the suspect vehicle was located by the Truro Police Service at a local residence unoccupied. Truro Police officers set up containment around the residence where the suspect attempted to flee from police but was safely arrested on scene without further incident.

The Truro Police Service Criminal Investigation Division has charged the 29-year-old male with the following offences; forcible confinement, driving while prohibited, mischief under $5000, failure to comply with probation, and assault causing bodily harm. The accused is being held in custody and will appear before the Provincial Court. The accused's identity is being withheld at this time as this incident is still under investigation.

Fire Training Associates were in the area at Bible Hill Fire & Emergency hall hosting training over the weekend.
The training was " hands-on program focused on building aggressive, efficient, and effective engine company performance—with a clear priority of getting water on the fire."

Fire departments from PEI, Cape Breton, Halifax, Pictou County Trenton Fire Department among other participated along with several local members from Onslow Belmont Fire Brigade, Valley-Kemptown & District Fire Brigade , Salmon River Fire Brigade , Truro Fire Service , Stewiacke & District Volunteer Fire Department among others.

Recently, Hilden Fire Brigade held its annual banquet.

During this banquet, several members were recognised:

Firefighter of the year- Ryan Bezanson,
Officer of the year- Alan Johnson,
Frank Arseneau Dedication Award- Mike Hamilton
