We acknowledge that we work & play on the home and traditional collective territories of the Nuu-chah-nulth peoples.

Our hearts break for the villages, families & children that were subjected to atrocities. We recognize the lives, homes, languages & Indigenous culture that was stolen. But we also recognize the resiliency and wisdom of these peoples, and have a deep respect for their connection to the land.
To acknowledge is an act of reconciliation, and only scratches the surface of the work ahead of us. Let us listen to, and uplift Indigenous voices!

A territorial note I learnt recently: although Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ is one of fourteen nations within the Nuu-Chah-Nulth Nations, it is only one of five Nations that have signed the Maa-nulth Final Agreement- the first modern day treaty on Vancouver Island. The remaining ten hahoulthees remain unceded to this day.
