I’m hosting a workshop in July at the Goodwood Mercantile.

Make a framed beach glass washing line with me, with a cup of tea and biscuit. Perfect way to spend a summer’s day!

Workshop: Framed Beach Glass Washing Line - by Emma Inkpen

~ Framed Beach Glass Washing Line ~
Host Artisan: Emma Inkpen from Inkpen Studios (and a Goodwood Mercantile staff member)

Join us for a summer's afternoon, to make a framed beach glass washing line. The harmony of pe***ng freshly washed sheets with the birds chirping, the sight of a washing line flapping in a summer breeze, and the scent of line dried clothing, captured in this handmade framed artwork.

Made with found beach glass and driftwood, which is provided for you to select from, you will be guided through the process to make your own individual washing line piece, to take home or gift to someone dear.

A pause for a freshly brewed cup of tea, and baked cookies from Annina's bakery across the street from us.

$75 + tax per person
(10 people maximum)

🎟 Tickets via Eventbrite - https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/1988995069796

The Space Between us show at the Goodwood Mercantile was a wonderful. Some of Jessica Tamlin Art and my artwork is still on display at the mercantile, and my greeting cards and other creations too.

I’m here pottering around, doing window displays and such on Thursday and Fridays.

Pop in, say hello!

What an amazing experience this past weekend at our pop-up art show: The Space Between Us. It’s taken me a moment to process.

A massive appreciation to Jessica Tamlin Art for doing this art show together. It’s something we’ve talked about for a long time, and we finally did it! After all our trips to Algonquin, we said we’d do something like this. I dont think I would have been brave enough to do this on my own. I will remember this forever.

Thank you to Goodwood Mercantile for giving us space, literally and metaphorically.

I am really touched and uplifted by the support shown by family and friends that came to the reception or popped in over the weekend, and the messages of good wishes. It takes a lot as an artist to put your work out there, but after the life detour I took two years ago, this took me digging deep to find the emotional and physical energy to do this.

And finally, I can’t do any of this without the support of Adam and the girls. I took over the house with projects being worked on, abandoned chores, and needed help with the heavy lifting. I’m sure they’re glad to see the kitchen table again, but even more so, happy to see me doing something that I love to do.

I am both exhausted and exhilarated in equal measure! Soul has been refuelled.

Thank you.

Today is our last day of our pop up show!
Come see Inkpen Studios and Jessica Tamlin Art today, 12-3.

Happy Victoria Day!

We are open today for Victoria Day, noon until 3pm.

It is also the last day of our Pop-up Art Show: The Space Between Us, with Inkpen Studios and Jessica Tamlin Art on site painting, and chatting with guests.

Fun fact: our building was built in 1861, during the Victorian era, which is worth noting today of all days since we’re celebrating Queen Victoria’s birthday today!

Just a little peek at our show that officially opened last night with a reception, thank you to everyone that joined us.

Jessica and I will be on site painting and chatting with visitors today and tomorrow 11-4, and 12-3 on Monday, at the Goodwood Mercantile.

Our show, The Space Between Us came from a canoe trip that Jessica and I went on nearly a decade ago. We sat on the side of Hwy 60 painting a view on tiny canvases, en plein air. After I started to get back on my feet last year we had the idea of doing this show together. The idea being that we both do a painting from the same photo from that we took all those years ago. A duet painting if you will. And those took the centre piece of our show - The Space Between Us.

We also have mini paintings, seen between our large paintings. These are snippets of our adventures or things we see that we think are beautiful, painted on 2x2 tiny canvases. Accessible mini art.

Lots of other artwork by Jessica and I, and we also have paddles, trucker hats, and greeting cards.

Pop into the mercantile over the weekend, it’s going to be glorious weather. The back deck of the shop is open, grab a coffee and join us.

This is very close to my heart for so many reasons. It’s a paddle, we all know I love my canoe. Painted from a photo I took while on said canoe, on Pog Lake in Algonquin Park, my happy place. I adore The Tragically Hip and Gord Downie is dearly missed. And, Gord was treated for his cancer in the same radiation and chemo department as I was, at Princess Margaret.

A portion of the sale of my paddle “Let’s see what the morning brings”, will be donated in memory of The Tragically Hip’s Gord Downie, to Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, where I am a patient too.

Paddle available at Goodwood Mercantile this weekend at our Pop-up art show: The Space Between Us
