Hey, I’m Nicola!

Here’s a few fun things about me….

🇨🇦 I live in Vancouver in Beautiful British Columbia and I love road tripping around the Province exploring every pocket of scenery. Give me mountains. Give me water.

♓ I’m a Pisces, through and through. IYKYK

⛸️ Despite having 3 ski mountains literally on my doorstep, I have never hit the slopes. But my latest hobby takes me to the ice. Nothing makes me happier than fumbling my way around the rink on my little knife shoes.

📺 TV shows that are always on repeat in our house: The Office, Parks and Rec, Seinfeld, and Friends.

🌍 Edinburgh, Lisbon, and Rome are my favourite cities in Western Europe. And, unpopular opinion I know, but I believe Paris is considerably overrated.

💻 As tough as the last 3 years have been, I have a lot to be thankful for. I don’t think I’d have ever found the courage to leave my corporate career to pursue my dreams if certain events didn’t happen.

So, yeah, that’s a really quick intro about the things that make me tick.

Your most productive 20 minutes today!

Woah, how are we this far into January already? Woosh!

Most of us have been focusing on new resolutions, setting new goals, and pursuing aspirations that help us grow. But as we focus on ourselves and our business, we tend to forget our biggest asset: our website.

Updating your website for the new year is important for three reasons:
1. It shows people you're still in business
2. It helps you stay on top of trends
3. It provides a great opportunity to improve performance and quality of leads

Here are my top things to update. The best thing? It will take you all of 20 minutes to complete.

🟫 Update the copyright year

🟫 Refresh your testimonials to most recent and relevant (don't be afraid to edit them to highlight the most standout bits)

🟫 Update your portfolio and images

🟫 Make sure your content is accurate and up to date (prices, availability, dates, etc.)

Ugh, guys, it’s NOT JUST ME? RIGHT?

We get it, in this digital age having a website for your business is a MUST…but

‘Keep it fresh. Keep it exciting.’

For you.

Yeah, yeah, I know. All the marketing tips out there tell you to make content for your audience first. And while that’s true, I’ve also learned that what you put out there needs to give YOU all the feels too.

It’s a confidence thing, you see.

I was at a house party not too long ago and got to making new acquaintances. You know how it goes: “how do you know so and so…what do you do for a living…oh cool, do you have a business card?”

Fear runs through my mind as I reluctantly hand them out “Please don’t scan my QR code, please don’t visit my website”

Doubts, imposter syndrome, crippling self-criticism.

All that pre-dispositioned nonsense that left me with a website that just didn’t vibe, and I was embarrassed to send people to.

It’s so stupid really. I know exactly what to do to create the website of MY dreams. I do it for my clients ALL THE DAMN TIME.

Why can’t I do it for myself? 🤷🏼‍♀️

See > Doubts, imposter syndrome, crippling self-criticism.

Yeah, no.

2023 is all about feeling and being confident. And for me and my business, that starts with my website.

Its been one year since...

I walked away from my comfort zone.

This isn't a business anniversary (that date is a bit more blurry 🤔).

But it's significant for marking the day I stepped back from everything I knew in order to realign my life to my vision.

I'm not 'there' yet, but I sure am a hell of a lot closer and I wouldn't change any of this crazy ride of a journey for a second. Im doing it and I couldn't be more excited for what the future holds.

So, this is my "I'm so f'ing proud of myself" post.
