What’s the difference between organic (free) and paid marketing for companies?
Let’s say you’re trying to start a fire...🔥
First, you have to ignite the tinder, then the kindling, and then finally add bigger logs.
It takes a long time and a lot of energy to get it started and up to a point where it’s burning nice and hot and can be maintained with much less energy.
That’s like organic marketing in the sense that it takes a lot of time and energy to build up a solid foundation for your business. Things like your brand, referral partners, etc. Usually, this takes at least a few years.
Paid ads, on the other hand, are like gasoline.
Just pour it on, ignite it, and you’ve got a smokin’ hot fire in seconds.
Or in our case, you get a steady and consistent inbound flow of booked meetings with qualified leads.
The main difference here, however, is that the speed and convenience of the gasoline comes at a price.
With paid ads, you guessed it. They cost money.
Essentially you’re trading money for time, predictability, and at your convenience.
And if you're serious about building something great a lot quicker, then it's a perfect fit.
There’s no doubt that you can build a successful long-term automotive shop /brand without spending any money on advertising, but it’s going to take you a very long time and you don’t have any control over the process either.
And it’s the same whether you're just getting into the industry or you're a seasoned pro trying to grow your business and hit those targets you've been striving for but can't quite reach.
However, if you sprinkle some paid ads into the mix, you’re much more likely to hit your goals well ahead of schedule.
My advice? Do both.
You can supplement the lack of results from organic at the start by using paid ads, and then once your organic efforts start producing, you can scale it up even further with more ads.
It's like a self-sufficient snowball that just keeps on feeding itself and getting bigger and bigger with time.
P.S. This week I’ll be diving into the specifics of both organic and paid marketing for the automotive niche. It’ll be a great topic and I’m super excited! Drop a comment or message me with any specific questions.
