Did you had a wonderful Halloween?

We had a great Halloween started with pumpkin patch, pumpkin carving, and of course the dress up trick or treat in the lovely neighbourhood. I love to see all the little kids dressed up in super cute costumes, going door to door to get candies!

I saw one kiddo dressed up as a mummy, bumped into a house owner who also dressed up as mummy, the adult mummy act surprised to see the little mummy and said “oh~ my long lost son~~~” and proceeds to hug the little mummy! Everyone laughed! Love the sense of humour!

Introducing the 24th member from the charming Dim Sum Family… traditional Chinese Deep Fried Steamed Bun, also known as Golden Mantou.

To make the fried mantou, plain and common Chinese steamed buns are needed first. The Mantou is made from wheat flour, yeast, and water, deep fried in hot oil until it turns golden, and served the dish with condensed milk.

Mantou can be served in steam bamboo baskets too, it’s usually referred as Silver Mantou as steamed bun came out plain in white.

Which one you like better? Deep fried or steamed one? I like the golden one solely because of condensed milk! 😆

Special seasonal dim sum member!

Belated Happy Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋節快樂)! It was the mooncake season again!

I love to eat mooncake very much during the Mid-Autumn Festival that my mom used to give me mooncake as breakfast before school 🤣! My favourite type of mooncake is double salted duck egg yolk with lotus seed paste! How about you?

Sharing mooncake is one of the traditions for the Mid-Autumn Festival, the round shape of the mooncake symbolizes completeness and reunion, so sharing among the family members signifies the completeness and unity of family.

Can you believe I’ve drawn over twenty dim sum dishes already?

Introducing the 23rd member from the charming Dim Sum Family… the Soup Dumplings 小籠包, also known as Shanghai Soup Dumplings!

Soup Dumplings are a steamed dumpling consisting of a paper thin wrapper enveloping a seasoned pork filling and hot, flavorful soup. The dumpling tastes great with the special dipping sauce, which is Chinese rice vinegar and julienned fresh ginger.

How do you usually enjoy your soup dumplings? I usually take a small bite and pull all the hot soup out through the hole first because the soup is too hot, then when the dumpling is less hot then I will take a big bite and drink the soup from the spoon at the same time.

Taking a break from the dim sum family and has been working on something else on a side lately. And it is finally done!

Introducing “My Peachy Queen”! A new character created and the first thing I’ve done with this character is to create a set of Stickers!

The backstory of the character came from a conversation I had with a friend who became a mom last year. Peachy Queen represents all mom, who transitioned from a lady to a mom, adopted the new identity and responsibility, reminding ourselves no matter how busy and tired everyday, we still keep our head up and stay positive to overcome any obstacles that appears, and most importantly even if we became a mom, we can still let our inner child out and have fun, enjoy life all the time!

The name Peachy Queen came from “Peachy Keen” which means excellent and wonderful!

First Dim Sum post in 2023!

Lately all I am craving for are sweet dim sum dishes, too bad a lot of the classic dishes are no longer common at the dim sum place. The new dim sum member to introduce is also a sweet dish but again hard to find nowadays!

The the twenty-second member to introduce is the Rainbow Jelly 七彩啫喱！

The best part of this dish is not the jelly…. is the cute paper umbrella!!! LOL I was chatting with friends and we all agreed we asked our parents to order this dish solely for the purpose of the pretty umbrella. The colourful jelly are tasty and it comes with a toy you can keep after! I remember the paper umbrella has many different colours to choose from, it can open and close up like a real umbrella. Some places serve the jelly with coconut powder, but I am not a big fan with the mixing taste of jelly and coconut flavour.

How’s everyone Boxing Day shopping?

I am still coughing from the cold, so I’ve been staying home for the past two weeks. Didn’t do any shopping at all, not even online shopping! Well…I did got something during Black Friday sale so I guess it’s a good way to save some $ by staying home during Boxing Day! 😂
