Quality UGC is your best friend as a social media manager. 📸 Do you know what user-generated content is and the dos and don'ts for using this content? I got you covered:⠀
⠀
What is UGC? User-Generated Content is typically videos, images, reviews, etc. that your brand is featured or tagged in. On Instagram that usually means someone has taken a photo or video of your product and shared it with their audience. Free product exposure? Yes, please!⠀
⠀
As a brand, it's great to repurpose this content and share it on your own accounts. Posting real people using your product and services creates trust and excitement. So how can you use this content and what are the best practices?⠀
⠀
1. Ask for permission - If you are wanting to repost a photo or video on your feed that you were tagged in and it was not created by you, you must ALWAYS ask before you share. if it's an Instagram story, you can share that easily without asking as long as your account has been tagged in the original story.⠀
⠀
2. Give credit - If you didn't take the photo always give credit to the original owner of the content by tagging them or mentioning them in the caption.⠀
⠀
3. Get more UGC - If you have an engaged following or if you want more engagement you can put together a UGC campaign. These are often created around a contest or giveaway that offers value in return for someone entering. Another way is through influencer marketing. Finding the right influencers that fit your brand values can not only create content but also expose your brand to a whole new audience!⠀
