When we wrote about J.D. Brandon previously, we knew Jordan was someone to watch. Yesterday, he stopped by as he prepares to travel to Japan — carrying new custom designs — and it was a genuine reminder of why these relationships matter.

This is what we do it for. Not just the stories, but the moments that come after — when the people we write about circle back, continue to grow, and keep us in their orbit as they do.

Jordan is a self-taught artisan from Victoria, BC, who builds every piece by hand using traditional saddle-stitching techniques and the finest materials available. No shortcuts. No compromise. Just craftsmanship that deepens with each passing season — and now, a vision that is reaching across the Pacific.

Watching a Canadian maker take his work to Japan, on his own terms, is exactly the kind of story Folio.YVR exists to champion.

The 30th annual Daffodil Ball raised an extraordinary $6.76 million for the Canadian Cancer Society — bringing its cumulative total to more than $45 million for cancer research over three decades.

Few galas in this city can claim that kind of legacy, and this year's Golden Opportunities evening at the Vancouver Convention Centre honoured every year of it.

Presented by Wheaton Precious Metals in partnership with the Lundin Cancer Fund and the World Gold Council, the night also marked the launch of the Gold Stream in Cancer Research — a landmark initiative targeting gold nanoparticle therapies for some of the most aggressive cancers known.

Gratitude to Andrea Seale of the Canadian Cancer Society, Haytham Hodaly of Wheaton Precious Metals, Jack Lundin of Lundin Mining Corporation, and David Tait of the World Gold Council for making this milestone evening what it was.

Oakridge Park is open — and before you ask, no, it is not replacing Alberni Street. It is something better.

As someone who visited every luxury boutique on opening day, here is my take: the two districts do not duplicate each other. Kering and Richemont remain downtown. Oakridge brings an entirely different roster — Maison Margiela, Ferragamo, Loro Piana, Loewe, Louis Vuitton, and a Chanel that will be the largest in Canada when complete.

Maison Margiela's space is everything you want from that house. Ferragamo set the bar for service — Patricia, you know who you are.

And yes, Tiffany & Co. shows up in both districts. Can one really have too much Tiffany? We say no. Does two Champagne bars liven the mood? Yes!

Vancouver is now a two-district luxury shopping city, with both destinations within 30 minutes of each other. That is not a consolation prize. That is a luxury shopping capital.

What does it look like when nearly sixty years of hospitality excellence meets the Mediterranean sun?

At Aquila Atlantis Hotel in Heraklion, the answer unfolds across a rooftop pool with sweeping views of the Koules fortress, a wine cellar stocked with the finest labels from Crete and beyond, and a Cretan table at Ariadni that honours the island's most nourishing culinary traditions. Sabyasachi Mukherjee

In 2002, Sabyasachi Mukherjee was awarded Most Outstanding Student at the National Institute of Fashion Technology. In 2024, he opened a flagship on Madison Avenue.

In between: a partnership with Christian Louboutin, collaborations with L'Oréal Paris and Bergdorf Goodman, and twenty-five years of building Indian craft luxury into a globally recognized force.

His anniversary showcase at Holt Renfrew Vancouver was, by every account, a moment.

Winnie + Khairul

They first crossed paths at the same high school — years before the right introduction finally brought them together.

By the evening of their reception at the Fairmont Pacific Rim's Sapphire Ballroom, nearly 200 guests had arrived from four countries to witness what designer Liting Chan of Paradise Events Presents had built: a night of deep velvet green, pyrotechnic sparks, lion dancers, and a first dance that belonged entirely to the room.
