September 30th marks the 3rd annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada.

We've been hearing a lot about the word, “Reconciliation.” What does it mean exactly? The dictionary definition is: The restoration of friendly relations.

“Reconciliation is about accepting our diversity. Reconciliation is about making sure that all people are included and not marginalized. Reconciliation is a place where we share prosperity and wealth so that no groups in society are ever left behind or have to live in poverty” – Chief Dr. Robert Joseph

We still have a long way to go, as many First Nations still live in poverty. This weekend’s commemoration is meant to honor the children who died while attending residential schools and the survivors and communities still affected by the legacy of the residential school system.

As non-indigenous Canadians, if we can wear some form of orange this weekend to acknowledge that we hear, see, and believe indigenous people - that would be a good first step toward reconciliation.

Proud to have produced this video with the help of Gerry Gaviola and Novus CC which paints an exciting picture of the future when we can bridge this gap and heal the divide together.

In 2020, we had the privilege of attending a peaceful rally in Vancouver, capturing the powerful energy of the Black Lives Matter movement. Now, three years later, Juneteenth has become a federal holiday in the USA.
