The future of B.C.’s business scene is already here and doing very impressive things, and Business in Vancouver’s Forty Under 40 magazine is a great reminder of that.

Each year, 40 standout leaders under the age of 40 are selected through a highly competitive nomination and judging process, representing industries like tech, law, finance and beyond.

Inside this special edition, you’ll also find members of the Forty Under 40 alumni community, now more than 1,400 strong, continuing to shape businesses and communities across the province in meaningful ways. Their in-depth profiles explore how they lead, what shaped their careers and the advice they have for what comes next.

It’s a collection of ideas, ambition and the occasional “how are they doing all of this before 40?” moment. And yes, we still believe some stories are best told in print.

Nominations for the next Forty Under 40 Awards are now open. Do you know who should be next? Visit the BIV website for more information.

For more than a century, Vancouver has been part of the soccer frenzy.

In the 1920s, local leagues played at Con Jones Park, today’s Callister Park near the Pacific Coliseum and PNE/Playland, and the Cambie Street Grounds, now the future home of the Vancouver Art Gallery. These early fields brought players and fans together, building a city-wide love for the game long before BC Place opened.

With seven 2026 FIFA World Cup matches coming to Vancouver this June and July, it’s the perfect time to celebrate how these early games helped shape the soccer culture we enjoy and love today.

With busy streets and bustling cafés, Mount Pleasant has always been a lively neighbourhood.

Curious what it looked like more than 100 years ago?

These archival photos from 1906–1918 show the early days of one of Vancouver’s oldest districts. The original Mount Pleasant schoolhouse? Now Kingsgate Mall. Main Street between 7th and 8th? That’s where The Pleasant stands today. Even Hanbury and Evans Bakery, lost to fire in 1908, lives on in memory where Rath Art Supplies and pulpfiction books welcome visitors.

Step back in time and see how Mount Pleasant has evolved over the past century.

Before connecting the city to the North Shore, this engineering marvel was just beginning to take shape.

In March 1937, construction on the Lions Gate Bridge started, soon to become one of Vancouver’s most recognizable landmarks.
