Guerrilla marketing in the age of AI?

Fifteen years ago I had the opportunity to write Guerrilla Social Media Marketing with Jay Conrad Levinson. Jay taught me something that has shaped every chapter of my career.

Guerrillas do not win because they have more resources. They win because they use the resources they already have with more creativity, more intent, and more humanity.

Lately I have been thinking about what that mindset means now that AI is reshaping how we sell, market, and communicate.

Guerrilla AI is not about collecting tools. It is about multiplying your impact.

Big companies are pouring money into massive platforms. Meanwhile, AI is quietly automating a huge percentage of the left brain work that used to eat up our days. Research. Drafting. Admin tasks. First-pass analysis.

That means the real battlefield is shifting to the right brain, where creativity, empathy, and conversational intelligence live. This is where the guerrilla thrives.

A modern guerrilla leans on four habits:

1) Stay grounded and avoid the hype.

Most people chase every new tool. Guerrillas choose a few AI helpers that let them think clearer, respond faster, and create with purpose.

2) Experiment quickly and build for the long haul.

Short sprints for learning. Long marathons for mastery. Try something. Improve it. Try again. This iterative process creates momentum and unique to you processes that aren’t in off the shelf solutions.

3) Use AI to listen better, not shout louder.
AI can surface patterns in conversations, questions, and customer behaviour. Guerrillas use those insights to build trust through context, not noise.

4) Let AI scale the work while you scale the humanity.

AI drafts. You add the story. AI organizes. You add the emotional intelligence. This balance is where connection happens.

Guerrilla AI is about resourceful selling and meaningful marketing. You do not need a massive war chest. You need clarity, curiosity, and the courage to engage your community every day.

Think like a guerrilla. Move with purpose. Let AI amplify what only humans can do.
