You've reached 2026.

Now stop marketing like it's 2022. 😏

Today, platforms are rewarding:
→ discoverability
→ relevance
→ retention
→ authority
→ meaningful content

Because visibility isn't just about being seen.

It's about being found, understood, remembered, and recommended.

The brands that adapt will grow. The brands that don't may keep posting and wondering why nothing changes (bye bye honey).

Which shift do you think is having the biggest impact on marketing today?

“Someone cheaper can do it.”

Absolutely.

And sometimes that’s okay.

But here’s the uncomfortable truth:
cheap branding usually looks cheap to search engines too.

Weak structure.
No strategy.
No SEO.
No positioning.
No consistency.
No storytelling.

Just vibes 😭

The internet became extremely competitive.

And businesses are no longer competing only visually.
They’re competing for trust, clarity, authority, and discoverability.

So yes…
your nephew may charge less.

But Google also tends to ignore businesses that look unfinished, inconsistent, or unclear.

LOL.

Have you ever hired something “cheap” that ended up being expensive later?

Tell me your horror story 👀

Post.
Wait.
Hope people see it.

But Instagram is increasingly behaving like a search engine.

People search for restaurants.
Photographers.
Marketing agencies.
Travel advisors.
Recruiters.
Local businesses.

They're using keywords, locations, recommendations, Reels, Maps, and AI-powered discovery to find what they need.

The question that you have to ask now is: "Can people find me when they're looking for what I do?"

The brands that understand this shift early will have a significant advantage.

The real question nos is:

"How do I become more discoverable?"

Today, people discover brands through search, recommendations, Reels, keywords, geolocation, and shared content, often without ever following the account first.

That's why visibility in 2026 isn't just about growing an audience.

It's about being found, understood, and remembered.

The brands that win won't necessarily have the most followers.

They'll be the ones that build authority, create meaningful content, and make it easy for both people and algorithms to understand what they do.

Followers still matter.

Discovery matters more.

Instagram can make your business look beautiful.

But discoverability?
That’s a different conversation.

Because social media platforms change constantly:
→ algorithms shift,
→ reach drops,
→ accounts disappear,
→ trends expire.

Meanwhile, Google processes billions of searches every single day.

And most customer journeys still begin with search behaviour.

That’s why having a website matters so much.

Not because websites are “old school.”
But because searchable businesses become easier to trust.

Your Instagram builds attention.
Your website builds a foundation.

Both matter.

When was the last time you Googled your own business as a customer would?

Send this to someone who still thinks a website is optional 👀

A quick game.

Count how many of these you've received this month.

1–3 → You're doing great.
4–6 → Welcome to marketing.
7–9 → Please accept this virtual coffee. ☕

In all seriousness, these conversations happen in almost every agency, marketing team and freelance project.

And honestly?

We wouldn't have it any other way.

Which slide felt a little too familiar? 👀

So now we're curious...

May taught me a few things.

Train tracks don't always know where they're going.
Rivers never move in a straight line.
Forest signs can be unexpectedly funny.
And some of the best conversations happen over a cold beer.

Meanwhile, somewhere between all of that:

A new client said yes.
A new project started.
A new brand found its voice.
A website went live.
A business became a little easier to find online.

Funny thing about marketing:
People think it's about algorithms.
Most days, it's really about people.

People building something they care about.
People trusting someone else to help tell their story.
People hoping to be found.

So this is my May.

Part strategy.
Part storytelling.
Part SEO.
Part crystal-clear rivers and forest trails.

And honestly?

I wouldn't trade that balance for anything.

One of the biggest myths about SEO is that it’s some kind of secret trick to “beat the algorithm.”

It’s not!

SEO is mostly about clarity.

Helping search engines understand:
→ what you do
→ where you do it
→ who you help
→ and why your business matters

Because if your website only says things like:
“transformative solutions for modern brands…”

Google is probably reading it like:
“…okay but WHAT do you actually sell?” 😭

Search engines are smart.
But they still need structure, hierarchy, keywords, context, and consistency.

Especially now with AI-powered search becoming more conversational and semantic.

Clear businesses get discovered faster.

Confusing businesses disappear faster.

If someone Googled your business category today
would your website truly make sense to Google?
