🎉 Girls Trip 🎉

My first girls trip in years and it couldn’t have been more fun! Adventuring with friends from elementary school and high school, some I’ve known since kindergarten. There’s something magical about laughing with people who’ve known you forever.

✨Top Bridge✨

This is why we visit Parksville.

We visited Top Bridge Regional Park during our stay The Beach Club Resort in Parksville, and it’s now on our must return list.

There’s a suspension bridge that crosses the Englishman River, and once summer hits, the current slows enough to form two natural swimming holes right underneath it.

The river stays cold even in summer, so go on a hot day if you plan to swim there. There is no lifeguard, so be careful. People have gotten hurt jumping in near jutting rocks. Parking and entry are free.

🦁 Lion King Vancouver Symphony Orchestra 🦁

Yesterday we took the family to Disney’s The Lion King Live in Concert with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at the Orpheum Vancouver Civic Theatres and hearing Hans Zimmer’s score played live while the movie ran on the big screen hit completely different. “Circle of Life” live is not the same experience as “Circle of Life” through a speaker.

110 minutes, one intermission, great for families. Even though Lion King is done, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra has a whole lineup of Movie Nights this year that’s perfect for families:

🥘 Sawasdee Thai Restaurant 🥘

Sawasdee Thai Restaurant in Vancouver holds a special place. It was my go-to spot during my working days, and bringing the family back reminded me why I loved going here.

We ordered:
Pla Meuk Yang (BBQ Squid)
Roasted Duck Curry
Kao Pad Sapparod (Pineapple Fried Rice)
Pad Thai
Tofu Tord (Deep Fried Tofu)
Thai Satay
Thai Ice Coffee & Thai Ice Tea.

The Pla Meuk Yang (BBQ Squid), Roasted Duck Curry, Pad Thai, and Pineapple Fried Rice are definitely repeat orders. The Thai ice tea could use more punch, but I did like the Thai ice coffee.

🌎 Come From Away 🌎

This one has been on my list for a while, so we were pretty excited to finally watch it live Arts Club Theatre Company. The cast is fantastic, the music is so much fun, and the story about the small town of Gander, Newfoundland opening its doors to 7,000 stranded passengers will stay with you long after the show ends.

⏱️ About 1 hour 40 minutes, no intermission
🌍 Best for older kids. It also makes a great date night or grandparents outing.
