HarbourCats Stage Late Comeback, But the Real Win Was the Atmosphere
Baseball isn’t just about scores and stats—it’s about the experience. And on Friday night in Victoria, the matchup between the Falcons and the HarbourCats delivered both an exciting game and a perfect summer evening for fans of all ages.
The HarbourCats came out on top with a 9–5 win, thanks to a huge five-run rally in the eighth inning that broke a 4–4 tie. It was a sweet bit of payback after losing a close one to the Falcons earlier this season. But even as the action heated up on the field, the mood in the stands remained relaxed and joyful.
The ballpark felt more like a community picnic than a high-stakes sporting event. Families wandered around, kids chased each other between the bleachers, and people dipped in and out of watching the game—always snapping back to attention when something big happened on the field. It was casual, easygoing, and unmistakably summery.
Of course, no baseball outing is complete without food. From hot dogs to poutine, the court had all the classics. We sampled a bit of everything, and agreed that nothing beats the comfort of fries, gravy, and cheese curds under the stadium lights. Even if it was your very first game, it was easy to feel like you belonged.
