Okayyyy this one got me. 🥹

Okayyyy… but are we sure social media is the problem? 👀

Because maybe someone saw your post and thought, “Oooooh, that looks GOOD.”

They clicked your profile.
They checked out your food.
They were ready to come in.

And then…

They couldn’t figure out where you were.
Your menu was six months out of date.
The reservation link didn’t work.
Or they sent you a DM and never heard back.

And just like that… we lost them.

Meanwhile, Instagram actually did exactly what we wanted it to do: it got their attention.

Social media is only one part of the customer journey. Getting people interested is step one, everything that happens after that needs to make it ridiculously easy for them to actually become a customer.

So before we blame the algorithm… maybe check that booking link. 😂

WOULD YOU POST IT? 👀

Welcome to a new little Bean series where we’re talking about the photos that might not be technically perfect… but are actually kind of perfect for social media.

Today’s verdict?
HELL YES. ⚡

• Is everything perfectly styled? Nope.
• Would I necessarily use this as the main photo on your website? Also Nope.
• But does it make me hungry? YEP.
• And sometimes… that’s literally the assignment.

Not every photo you post needs to look like it belongs in a magazine. Sometimes the slightly messy shots are the ones that actually make you stop scrolling.

The movement. The mess. The CHEESE PULL. 🤌

It feels real, it looks delicious, and it makes you want whatever is on that fork immediately.

So yeah… I’m posting it.

You probably don’t actually want more followers. 👀

Okay, okay… you probably do. 😂

But what you really want?

🍽️ A busy Friday night.
☕ Someone seeing that cinnamon bun at 8am and deciding they suddenly need a coffee run.
🥂 More reservations.
💕 More regulars.
📍 More people walking through your doors.

Because a bigger follower count doesn’t automatically mean more customers.

When I’m building a social media strategy for a restaurant, café, brewery or hospitality business, I’m not just asking:

“How can we get more followers?”

I’m asking:

“What do we want someone to DO after they see this?”

Book a table? Stop in for happy hour? Try the new menu? Send it to their brunch group chat? Remember you the next time they’re deciding where to go?

I’d take a smaller, engaged local audience that actually visits your business over thousands of followers who never walk through the door.

Every. Single. Time. 💁‍♀️

Your social media shouldn’t just look good or grow numbers. It should help grow your business.

Content creation and social media management are NOT the same thing. 👀

Personally, I think we’ve gotten a little too comfortable using the two interchangeably.

📸Content creation is the pretty stuff.
The photos. The Reels. The graphics. The content that makes someone stop scrolling and think okayyyy, I need that.

📱Social media management is what happens around that content.

The strategy. The planning. The posting. The analytics. The engagement. The community building. Figuring out what’s working, what isn’t, and how all that pretty content is actually helping your business.

I see restaurants with gorgeous content all the time... but barely any engagement. 👀

Creating great content, posting it, and disappearing until the next post.

Post + ghost isn’t social media management. 👻

Good content gets attention.
Good social media does something with it.

For hospitality businesses? You need both. 💕

One of the questions I hear ALL the time from small business owners: “What am I supposed to post?”

You don't need a huge announcement every time you post.

If I were planning content for a small business this week, I'd start with:

→ Answer a question customers ask all the time
→ Show something behind the scenes
→ Feature a product/service people might not know about
→ Introduce someone on your team
→ Share a customer review
→ Teach your audience something
→ Remind people what you actually offer

Your business doesn't need to be doing something exciting every day to have something worth talking about.
