Old vs new. A fully mechanical camera from the 90’s which shoots medium format film, or a new digital small form factor camera.

Both are fun to shoot and give different results. I like shooting them both and it’s almost like comparing apples vs oranges. The Hasselblad really forces me to slow down, think about light composition and framing as I only have 12 shots. I need to make each one count.

While the Fuji allows me to quickly snap and review without thinking as much about the technical aspects of shooting but provides instant visual feedback through the screen. Convenient.

What would you shoot?

I needed new work hats this year after 5 years of using my old ones. This is what we came up with. Working with Hometown Team and Corporate Sales was a great experience to get the new design embroidered on some new lids! Now I have an extra one to give away to one lucky human! Goodluck!

Almost like Mount Fuji right?

On clear days Mount Baker can be seen on the horizon off Vancouver Island. The goal was to get a picture of this Herron flying low above the water but some days things just don’t pan out.

Using my Sony A7IV and 70-200 F2.8 lens I was able to get in close enough to capture the two together in one frame to make this composition.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments!

The art of noticing.

An old, rusted out vehicle. Meant to be a project car but forgotten by the owner. Staring into the front seat, seeing the dash, I could almost forget what year it was and be taken back in time to when this thing was brand new.

Things we were back then just isn’t the same as manufacturing now. Made to last. Not with design obsolescence.

The cat took me by surprise as I was shooting into the side window. It jumped on the back of the car so quietly but I knew I heard something. It stopped just quick enough for me to take a snap.

The small, little flowers around the grass added to the surrealism of the scene. Almost like stars in a tiny galaxy.

EARTH DAY! Don’t just say it, take steps to make a change. Even though most of the biggest polluters are big corps, governments, wars etc. when we all take small steps in our lives, big impacts can be made.

Let’s all begin to take steps to more mindful actions in our daily lives that will set us up with a healthy, thriving planet for years to come. We only have one Earth.

Some ideas we can do on a personal scale:
1. Make considerate consumer purchases. Shop local businesses, try to not buy from large corporations, (if you have the means not to).
2. Reduce your overall animal protein consumption.
3. Ride a bike!
4. Be an informed consumer. Know where your products are coming from and what is in them.

Bonus points. Boycott Israeli products. The shear amount of destruction and carbon footprint their g3nocide is creating is insane! ✊🏾🌿🌎
