This is devastating news about a wonderful person from a well-loved company in our development community. Our thoughts and best wishes are with Ryan, his famiy and Aryze Developments

It’s been a difficult few weeks for our team and community at Aryze. Ryan, one of the founders—and a dear friend to us all—has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.

It goes without saying, this is very heartbreaking news for Ryan, his family and our entire organization to process. We are an extremely tight-knit team and Ryan is the driving force behind so much of what we do.

Our approach at Aryze has always been people-first; we are who we are because of our team, full stop. As we’ve grown over the years, Ryan has continued to embody and safeguard this priority, making sure each and every person feels empowered to make a difference in the organization—and our city at large.

But we’re also family-first; we prioritize time with our loved ones, because as we’re reminded today, you never know what tomorrow may bring.

Although Ryan's cancer, glioblastoma, is an aggressive form he is in full fight mode and ready to beat the odds! He's been given clearance to start a treatment program of chemo and radiation which will begin soon. His doctor has also recommended that the biopsy tissue be sent to a private lab for genome mapping, which would help his team understand if Ryan would be eligible for any cutting edge drug trials.

A GoFundMe has been set up to support Ryan’s wife and three children while he undergoes treatment, as home modifications will be required for wheelchair access due to his left-sided paralysis and the clinical trials being explored include treatments that are not available in Canada. We’ll continue to post updates to the GoFundMe as we get more information.
