A special note from our CEO and founder Jean-Claude Torchia:
The Canadian Grand Prix: Always fun and a defining moment for Montreal and Canada and look at what I am holding...Yes, if you look closely at the photo, that's Gilles Villeneuve's autograph when racing for Ferrari back in the day!
At Torchia Communications, and throughout my career, I have always had, along with our team, a very special relationship with the Formula One Canadian Grand Prix. Well, here we are, itâs Grand Prix weekend in Montreal. Thereâs nothing like it.
For us as an agency, it goes back decades to the early days around Labattâs sponsorship of legendary Canadian driver Gilles Villeneuve in the seventies, whose legacy continues to define Canadian motorsport and remains deeply woven into the identity of this race.
Over the years, we have been closely involved with the Canadian Grand Prix itself, handling public and media relations through the Labatt, Molson, and Playerâs sponsorship eras. We also had the privilege of working in Canadian motorsport more broadly, including the iconic Canadian Driver Development Program, which helped shape and elevate a generation of young Canadian talent, including Jacques Villeneuve (son of Gilles), the late Greg Moore, Alex Tagliani, Claude Bourbonnais, Patrick Carpentier, Bertand Godin, David Empringham, to name a few.
And it still feels like yesterday that I moved my family to London, England in 1997 to set up shop and launch on the global stage British American Racing (BAR) with Jacques Villeneuve. From his earliest days in Formula Atlantic at the historic Grand Prix de Trois-RiviĂšres, we were proud to support him all the way to the pinnacle of the sport. To this day, Jacques remains the only Canadian to have won the IndyCar, Indy 500, and F1 championships!
Beyond the nostalgia, the Canadian Grand Prix remains tremendously important for Montreal and for Canada as a whole. The race now generates an estimated $100 million in annual economic impact for the city, with hotels, restaurants, and businesses booked months in advance. More importantly, it places Montreal on the global stage, with race weekend broadcast to a worldwide television audience of over 300 million viewers across more than 150 countries.
Anyone who has experienced Grand Prix weekend in Montreal knows there is nothing quite like it. The city comes alive with energy, passion, and joie de vivre. It is no surprise that Montreal is consistently considered both a fan favourite and a driver favourite on the Formula One calendar.
It is always a privilege for us at Torchia, and for me personally, to reflect on how fortunate we have been to contribute, in our own way, to motorsport in Canada and to see how far it has come.
Happy Grand Prix Week and for the tens of thousands of visitors to our great city, bienvenue et bon amusement! Get out and enjoy the vibe. And while weâre at it, Go Habs Go! Letâs bring the Stanley back home. It's a truly wonderful time to be in Montreal!

Et pendant quâon y est, Go Habs Go! Ramenez la coupe Stanley Ă la maison. Câest vraiment une pĂ©riode exceptionnelle Ă MontrĂ©al!
