We are beyond excited to share that we’ve won an Applied Arts Magazine Design Award for our work on Niskamoon Corporation’s “Silver Lining” annual report.
Niskamoon is a not-for-profit organization that fosters cooperation between the Cree people of Quebec, Canada and Hydro-Québec.
Designed during the height of the pandemic, this annual report showcases landscape imagery, taken by local Cree photographers, to remind us of the beauty of nature and freedom. During challenging times, we search for hope, meaning, and a silver lining.
The pages begin with a jarring yellow and slowly lighten to eventually become white. The colour shift while subtle from page to page signifies that small seemingly imperceptible shifts ultimately lead to greater change.

Grâce Condominiums is a new three-building development project located in the heart of Montreal’s Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (NDG) neighborhood.
Capstone Developments and Calce Architecture Workshop took care to ensure the project fits harmoniously with architectural aspects that give this beloved residential neighborhood its unique appeal.
With a living green roof and an emphasis on greenery to enhance the streetscape, it should come as no surprise that we designed the logo in a rich green. As a secondary accent colour, we chose a more vibrant green to reflect the neighborhood's vibrancy and add visual interest to the brand’s colour palette.
NDG is rooted in a sense of community, so it was important that the logo evoke a feeling of coming together. Through use of the rounded arc ‘A’ (which is also a strong supportive shape in architecture), we developed a balanced logo that is refined while remaining approachable.

Our work for the new Grâce Condominiums project continues!
This new three-building condo development project is located in the heart of Montreal’s Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (NDG) neighborhood.
Building brand recognition is key, so to help with this while beautifying the construction sites, we created large billboards and fence designs that repeat the logo’s signature rounded arc ‘A’ (representing community and coming together). The signage echoes project values of refinement (yup, we even painted the billboard’s structural posts to blend with the artwork!) while remaining approachable.

The Cree Real-Estate Entrepreneurship Development (CREED) program provides start-up grants and capacity building for Cree entrepreneurship in the fields of renovations, construction and estate projects with Eeyou Istchee.
When developing a visual identity for the CREED program, we felt it was appropriate to give the logo an architectural feel. The roof symbol is indicative of the housing projects the program aims to fund and doubles as an upward arrow to represent economic growth. The letter “D” acts as a building block since this program acts as invaluable support to the Cree community.

Throwback to this beauty of an annual report filled with color and geometric mosaics that we designed for the Cree School Board.
The Cree School Board was established in 1978 and its purpose is to serve the Cree living in Eeyou Istchee and to empower them to take control of their own education system as well as to protect their language, culture, and traditional pursuits. Today, they teach almost 5,000 students in four inland and five coastal Eeyouch communities.
While 2020 will likely be remembered as a difficult year by most, this cheerful report ends the year on an optimistic note.
