Let’s set the scene shall we?

This is what will be the Prairie West sampling and aging room at Patent 5 Distillery. It was an absolute honour to sit and chat with Brock in this room for over 2 hours for the latest episode!

In the Season 2 finale I chat with Brock Coutts, owner of Patent 5 Distillery!

We recorded right in their whiskey aging room surrounded by barrels of spirits stacked from the floor to the ceiling!

We talked all about getting Patent 5 off the ground which included changing laws in Manitoba and sacrificing time with family. We discuss the process in creating spirits, the science behind it, the beautiful brand, the local support and strong ties to Manitoba!

We recorded the DMC episode on October 29, 2021 in what will eventually be their own brewery. This was the scene on that day. Full construction mode!

We sat at the round table you can just see the edge of in the bottom right corner of this photo.

It was a blast! Such an honour to be able to get a sneak peek at the new digs and hear Colin and Christel talk about everything they were planning on doing to the space! Colin and Christel from DMC have a few beers with me in what will eventually be their very own brewery! We cover off how Colin met Steve and how that relationship turned into DMC, we discuss all the work that goes into the can from beer science, to naming, to Christel’s creative branding.

We also talk a lot about the industry, the community, the passion, the growth in the craft beer market and shopping local.

We even discuss the recent cases of harassment towards women in the craft beer industry and what DMC does to ensure equality for everyone.
