The lovely thing about Radio station Classic 107, is the way in which it encourges clients to get their own message out. Have a listen to this week's interview with iconic Winnipeg ceramic artists, Jordan van Sewell. By the end of the interview you'll have greater appreciation and understanding of his works, and equally important that these works can be seen in his gallery in The Forks Market located at the top of the curly stairs!

For anyone interested in the arts scene here in Winnipeg, the name Jordan Van Sewell will be immediately recognizable. He has been a fixture on the Winnipeg Arts Scene for decades and has many works in some of the most prestigious art collections around the globe. Jordan works in ceramics, and his s...

For anyone who has lived on the prairie for any length of time, October means the end of the harvest, and a time to give thanks for all that the earth has provided for us. For many Manitoba farmers, this past summer has been one to remember. The hot dry weather we had this past summer has meant that...

Looking for inspiration this week, came upon a new version of O Canada, by Winnipegger Ayodele Odeyemi. Called O Canada (Celebration Song) — it is the result of a collaboration between Odeyemi and Nigerian artist Opeyemi Olatunji, who performs under the name YemyTPX. The reworked version of the anthem was released online last month.
“The essential thing we need is to celebrate each other,” says Ayodele Odeyemi.

Yes we do.

In fact that’s the only way we can move forward.

And in addition to the words, there’s the beat – which works well for a few dance moves, including the classic chair dance.

Monitor your inspiration level after a couple of rounds of this tune. My guess is that you’ll have a smile on your face, and be ready tackle life’s hurdles once again.

At a time like this, when the viral pandemic and racism amongst other things is causing division, anger and grief, we choose to celebrate Canada's strength i...

Have always been fascinated by politics. Last year offered an opportunity to support a new take on that fascination. A school chum, Don Neydli, who writes under the pen name Bartholomew St. James, approached The Buzz about assisting him with the publication of his first novel!
Titled The Contrarian Candidate, it's a fictional account of a debate for the leadership of the Republican Party, in which the protagonist, Charlie Wyatt, a comic by trade, takes to the stage against the President.
Following an in-depth analysis of contemporary world events and politics, the book builds to a gripping climax which promises laughs, tears, and a thoughtful reflection of the Trump term.
It's an important book, because as it's been said, one can't really go forward without having learned from the past.
Available through Amazon.

Fascinated by American politics? The Contrarian Candidate offers a novel approach to that subject. This book, which The Buzz is associated with, was ranked by Amazon among the top hot new political thrillers when it launched in the fall last year, and in February, 2021 hit #27 in the political fiction category. The book can be purchased in its paperback version through well-known US bookseller Barnes & Noble, or on Amazon which offers an e-book as well.

So businesses are all trying their best to smile and march along while doing everything they can to survive and thrive during the pandemic.

Sometimes new signage can help out.

With only one door officially open at The Forks Market, Paul Langel, co-owner at Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company had been noticing people pulling at other doors trying to get in.

Here's the solution. Signage!

Check out this new banner - hung at the entrance between Ellements Wine + Spirits and Grass Roots Prairie Kitchen.

The doors at this entrance are your way into The Forks Market!
