BGSBU Organises Girls’ Badminton and Basketball Matches
Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University organised Girls’ Badminton and Basketball matches showcasing the University’s continued commitment towards promoting sports culture, physical fitness, and women empowerment on the campus. On the occasion, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, inaugurated the newly established Basketball Court. The inauguration ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from girl students, who also played the inaugural basketball match on the newly developed court. Addressing the students, the Vice Chancellor appreciated their sporting spirit and active participation in extracurricular and sports activities. He emphasized the importance of sports in developing confidence, leadership qualities, discipline, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle among young women. The Vice Chancellor also highlighted the significance of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan and encouraged students to stay away from drugs and other harmful substances. He said that sports and constructive activities are powerful tools for channelising youth energy in a positive direction and building a healthy, responsible, and progressive society. He also attended the final match of the Girls’ Badminton competition and lauded the students for their energy, dedication, and competitive spirit. He remarked that such initiatives play a significant role in empowering women students by encouraging active participation, self-confidence, and overall personality development.
The sports activities were organised under the broader initiative of promoting a healthy and positive lifestyle among youth. The events created an atmosphere of enthusiasm, fitness, and teamwork among hostel residents and participants.
