Did you know that the original Panama Hat is actually not from Panama? Panama hats are hand-woven in Ecuador by craftsmen coming from the cities of Cuenca and Montecristi. The hats became known as “Panama hats” due to their export from Ecuador to Panama during the construction of the Panama Canal at the end of the 19th century.⁠
The story of LaLuz starts with a bespoke Panama hat and goes all the way back to 2010. ⁠
