This year's weather wasn't kind to us earthlings. We were not managing well the extreme droughts (as well as extreme floods...). How good we have someone helping us out! The hero of this story is a good old beaver ๐ฆฆ
Despite a drought in the South West in the UK, beavers have built a network of dams to help maintain an area of wetland in less than a year. Those actions contribute to well being of birds and other wildlife. "It also brings flood prevention benefits and carbon capture within the wetland."
Now, because of their help, and contribution to biodiversity, new government legislation will see beavers given legal protection as a recognised native species in England. What does it mean? Simply, it will be illegal to disturb, harm or kill them. Well done England!
Let's show some appreciation for this hard-working fellow! ๐
