Swiss banknote design competition (1/4)
We are happy to share “Switzerland as a Living Space,” our concept for the design competition of the new Swiss banknote series. Across six notes, the concept follows Switzerland through its altitude zones, beginning with the Lowlands and the Swiss Plateau.
10 Franc Note – Ribwort Plantain / Lowlands
The ribwort plantain serves as the main motif for the Lowlands. The 10-franc note represents science, medicine, viticulture, and trade. On the reverse side: Lake Maggiore shown as a 3D relief, together with the Port of Basel as a symbol of infrastructure.
Swiss map theme: waterways.
20 Franc Note – Bee / Swiss Plateau
The bee serves as the main motif for the Swiss Plateau. The 20-franc note represents community life, construction and housing, mobility, and the economy. On the reverse side: the Rhine Falls shown as a 3D relief, together with Zug railway station as a symbol of infrastructure.
Swiss map theme: population density.

Bienvenue Studios & HOMI Design Studio were selected by the Swiss National Bank (SNB) as one of 12 finalist teams from more than 300 submissions.
Our concept, “Switzerland as a Living Space,” presents Switzerland not as a postcard image, but as a living system shaped by altitude, biodiversity, and human creativity. From Lake Maggiore to the summit of the Weisshorn, each banknote tells its own story.
