So I once had this client whom I trusted but almost fell prey to her scam. Let me tell you how it happened. She asked me to design a flyer for her new shop and we took over a month to get the final design ready because she kept on changing the pictures and write-ups for the flyer almost every week which I still patiently executed.

When the final design was ready, I sent her a mockup and not the final copy(though she begged me to do the latter). Then I was waiting for payments(mind you I didn't ask for an advance payment). This client kept on making excuses while posting the flyer mockup on her platforms and told me every day that she will send money.

Months passed, then she said she was waiting for December njangi which never came through and it's over a year now. Luckily she only had the mockup which wasn't suitable for printing.Chapter closed!

What am I saying? As a graphic designer a mockup will not only serve as a template which shows a real life representation of a design to your client, but will also save you wasted time and energy working for clients who just want to scam you. Mine you ended up using the template on that flyer severally with new creativity and earned 5 times more than what she was to pay.
