*At what age should you talk to a boy or girl child about s*x?*
Not speaking to children about s*x do them no good rather speaking to them about s*x buld them up for adulthood.
In doing so,use correct and appropriate terminology to reduce anxiety especially when it comes to body parts.
As they grow,keep speaking to them about it for it's better to be proactive than reactive.
*Topics to be discussed according to age*
1.0-5 years.
-Body Anatomy.Speak to your child about their body letting them know they shouldn't be touched at just any area of the body by any or everyone.With this,even during playful moments,they will be mindful.
-Public body parts.
Not every part of ones body should be seen by everyone as a result,let your child know how they should dress and cover up themselves because exposing them brings down Integrity and also predispose you to abuse.
-Private body parts.
Your child at 5 years should already know about their private how to care for them and how to protect them so always teach your child this.
-Gender.
Letting your child know his or her s*x is important because it will prevent them trying to practice what they see or hear.
- Giving names to body parts.
With example be it through drawing or images from media, show them how each body part is called and it's function so that they will be aware each time they see these body parts.
-Getting help from those they trust .
Children have person's with whom they discuss what borders them.So as a parent,make your child feel comfortable with you so they can always share their worries with you.
2. Primary school
-How babies are made.
Teach your children how kids are made ,the process involved.This will help guide them on their every move since they have in mind what can happen if they get into intimacy.
-How babies are born.
A girl child should know that after one gets pregnant,next is for the baby to be born.To this effect,they should be aware the means through which they can be delivered of.
-Puberty.
As children grow old,they mature and when this happens,changes are bound to occur.For a man,he will have beared around the cheek and private, pimples, change in voice.For a girl,they will have breast , menstruation, enlarged buttocks .So it's important to let them know about these changes so it doesn't scare them as they age up.
-Ma********on.
S*xing with items order than the p***s of an opposite s*x,is common among children of this age.Thus educate them about it.
-S*xual feelings.
As they attend adulthood, feelings of intimacy steps in and when this happens,if they had not been educated about s*x,they may do a lot of havok that will be regreted in the later days.
Thus educate them about s*x at an early age.
- Ponography.
Children have the tendency of watching this in media and most of them tend to practice what they see.Thus, always educate your children about this before they get to see it themselves.
3. Secondary School.
-Contraceptive
Research has shown that girls of this class and age,get involved with contraceptive of various types not minding its side effect.All that interest them is preventing unintended pregnancy.Thus as a parent ,educate your children about this.
-Healthy relationship
Children are often attracted to their opposite s*x and as a result,they date each other.However,not all of them keep it healthy that's protective s*x or total abstinence.Thus as a parent,it is your responsibility to educate your children.
-Respect and communication.
Your child should be able to select the words they speak how they speak it and to who .This helps them communicate appropriately in the community as a whole.
-Safer s*x and intimacy.
Children get fun of themselves and at times,they want to try what they have either seen or heard.
Thus, educate them about safe s*x methods and it's benefits.
The above-mentioned points are important in guiding your children from childhood through adulthood for a healthy living.
