LIFE, POST MUTZIGSTAR CAMEROON
Mutzigstar Cameroon is a platform created in 1990 by Les Sociétés Anonymes des Brasseries du Cameroun (SABC), (one of the giant Brewery industries in Cameroon) to showcase Cameroons’ music prioress and talents to the wider world.

It has succeeded to run the talent show every year and the public has been amazed and entertained with outstanding and creative talents (Salatiel, Dynastie le Tigre, Longue Longue just to name a few) and beautiful songs from the ten regions of the country.

We have witnessed different talents emerge winners down the years such as Jimmy Costa (2020), Nda Chi (2019), Michael Mambo (2018), Vanessa Monjoa (2017), Zinnia Bemo (2009) but the BIG QUESTION remains; WHAT BECOME OF THESE TALENTS AND WINNERS POST MUTZIGSTAR CAEROON?

It has been very common to see runners up from the talent show make a name for themselves, become very famous and influential in the Cameroon Music Industry such as Belka Tobi, Longue Longue, Dynastie le Tigre and Salatiel.

Taking into considering the almost non existence of winners of this talent show in the Cameroon Music Industry, it becomes very worrying as to what and how the talent show is useful to the Cameroonian public if they cannot get to savour good and entertaining music from the winners of the talent show.

Looking at this worrying situation from a different view point, one will turn to ask if; most of these aspiring music stars go into the show without actually understanding how the potential and worth of the platform put at their disposal and at the end of the day fail to utilize the opportunities set at their disposal?

Are the judges apt with the ability and vision to detect skills and talents or are they just there to fill the spot and at the end of the day they get paid and they move on with life?

Does the Sponsor of the talent show keep to its own end of the bargain?

Let’s not forget it is a musical platform that is suppose to compete with other musical talents shows such as The Voice Naija, The Voice Francophone and many others, created decades after Mutzigstar Cameroon. But does it have the necessary qualities and level to measure up?

Meet Olgha NK, a talented Cameroonian artist, vocalist and song writer who hail from the English speaking part of Cameroon and is based in the US.

From an early age of 17, she was already singing professionally and sings under Bimmac Sounds, a Cameroonian label based in the U.S. whose aim is to discover and develop young talent.

She has not stayed indifferent to the ongoing crisis that has plagued not only Anglophones but has paralyzed the economy of Cameroon.

In her song titled “Cold”, sang in pidgin, she is determine to create awareness about what has been going on in the English speaking zones of Cameroon.

Her outstanding talent can be seen in her cover for Adeles’ song “Hello” that she has been able to transpose in pidgin.

Cameroon, blessed with all these enormous youthful talents and skills, is she (Cameroon) ready to treasure and value these blessings or will Cameroonians witness a repeated scenario like Richard Bona, when another talent fades away?
