Hi everyone!
I’ve been diving deep into Isaac Rudansky’s Google Ads principles lately, specifically on how to structure search campaigns. Sometimes we get so hyper-focused on "the click" that we forget the foundations that actually make a campaign efficient.
I wanted to share a summary of some valuable takeaways so we can all keep learning together:
🔍 1. The Importance of Real Research
It’s not enough to "assume" what the customer is looking for. Tools like Google Keyword Planner or SEMrush are essential, but one of the best tricks is simply using Google Autocomplete. It gives you a direct window into the real, everyday language people use. It’s often surprising how different it is from our own technical jargon!
📂 2. Logical Structure (The Mirror Effect)
A great way to stay organized is to look at your own website’s hierarchy. If your site is well-structured by categories and subcategories, try to have your Ad Groups reflect that same layout. This ensures the user journey—from the initial search to the landing page—is seamless and coherent.
🧠 3. Balanced Segmentation
Sometimes we want to ultra-segment (by city, device, match type...), but if we go too far, we leave Machine Learning without enough data to learn. The key is to segment only what’s essential, allowing Google’s AI to have enough "critical mass" to optimize effectively.
🤖 4. Let the AI Work (With Patience)
If you activate Smart Bidding strategies (like Target CPA or ROAS), the secret ingredient is patience. Ideally, you should wait at least 2 weeks before touching anything. Drastic changes interrupt the algorithm's learning phase. In this case, patience truly is a virtue!
✨ 5. Leverage the Power of Dynamic
Don't be afraid of Dynamic Search Ads (DSAs). If you have a lot of content or a blog with great info, let Google scan your URLs and create dynamic headlines. It’s an incredible way to capture "informational search" traffic that you might not have mapped out in your keyword list.
