We are excited to share our new case for GDCy - GameDev Cyprus FEST.

GDCy FEST is more than a conference, it’s the largest open-air gamedev event in Europe. Held on the coast of Cyprus, it brings together the industry through talks, networking, and a unique atmosphere that feels closer to a festival than a traditional business event.

Speakers and guests include teams from Helio Games, GEM Capital, vgames, Huqiao Games, Owlcat Games, Xsolla, Mellow, TechIsland®, Wargaming, Cyprus University of Technology, CYGMA Cyprus Game Makers Association and many others.

For GDCy FEST, we redesigned both the website and the mobile app, including registration flows, ticketing, scheduling, and participant networking features.

But the project evolved beyond product design. During the process, we developed an entirely new visual language for the festival, a scalable system the team now continues to use across their digital and communication materials.

This is what long-term creative partnership looks like.

Why is an armored taxi a normal thing in Brazil, and how do you design a product like that?

In the new episode of Dobar Dabar, we dive into how real-world context shapes design decisions in ways you can’t ignore.

Our guest is Dasha Prokuda, a design director in Rhino with international experience across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. She is working on a unique product in Brazil — an armored taxi service built around safety an local realities. This conversation explores how environment, risk, and culture directly influence product thinking.

We talked about how designing in Latin America is fundamentally different from user behavior to emotional perception of products, and why copying solutions from Europe or the US simply doesn’t work there.

In this episode:
— Designing for the Latin American market;
— Armored taxi as a product;
— UX and user behavior across different countries;
— The future of design and the role of AI.

This episode is for designers, marketers, and anyone aiming to work globally or grow beyond their local market.

Pilot Episode is live!

We launched a new podcast series Design & Business. In this format, Alexander Ustinov, founder of Beavers Brothers, talks not only to designers, but to founders — people who shape the products and businesses.

Our first guest is Evgeny Kobzev, entrepreneur and co-founder of the accounting service “Knopka”.

This time, we moved beyond design as visuals and talked about design as a business tool.

Here’s what we covered:
— How the role of designers evolved from “making things look good” to shaping the entire product
— Why in complex products, deep domain knowledge is often more important than classic UX research
— How strong brands are built on emotions, not just logic
— Whether AI will actually replace designers and developers

This is the starting point of a broader conversation: looking at design through the lens of business, product decisions, and real-world constraints.

New Podcast Episode: Design Leadership Across the Globe!

We just dropped a brand new live recording on YouTube! In this episode, Alexander Ustinov, founder of Beavers Brothers, sits down with Yaroslav Seazov, Head of Design & Brand at MuseGroup, broadcasting straight from Barcelona.

If you've ever wondered what it takes to manage a global design team or transition your career internationally, this chat is packed with honest insights.

Here’s what we dive into:
— Global transitions: why your local corporate experience is actually highly relevant in the international market.
— Cultural clashes: the real differences in design communication and feedback between the CIS, Europe, the US, and the UK.
— AI in action: how MuseGroup is using AI right now to automate design systems and check layouts with the push of a button.
— The Big Mix: the wild reality of managing branding, digital interfaces, and even physical products (like music books!) all at once.
— Beating burnout: honest talk about the "leadership crisis," surviving a tough global job market, and how staying curious is the ultimate cure for burnout.

Why should designers work on pet projects?

In our YouTube interview, Sasha Denisova, Senior Brand Designer at Red Antler, explains why pet projects are essential for designers.

Here’s why:
— They help you get hired
Sasha mentioned that showing her pet projects during interviews helped a lot. They demonstrated her initiative and curiosity.

—They show you still love what you do
If you keep creating outside of work, it’s usually a sign that the passion is still there.

—They give you creative freedom
Client work has limits. Personal projects let you experiment and explore ideas without constraints.

—They help you grow faster
Many top designers constantly create their own work — experiments, cultural projects, or even typefaces.

For Sasha, creating and selling her own fonts became one of those outlets.
Pet projects are a playground where designers can stay curious and bold.

Happy International Women’s Day!

March 8 is about celebrating women and their impact in every field.

It’s also a good moment to talk about women’s health and innovation.
Femtech is changing how women experience healthcare — making it more accessible, comfortable, and human.

Some time ago, our founder Alex Ustinov spoke with Ira Evdokimova, founder of Femtech Force, about why Femtech matters, why its potential is still underestimated, and how design can reshape healthcare experiences.

We turned that conversation into a deep article — and this week feels like the perfect moment to revisit it.

We’ve published the recording of our live session with Yury Solodovnikov.

Yury is a true industry legend who has gone from designing album covers and working on websites for rock stars to becoming a design director in some of the largest fintech projects.

He shared how to stay sane while managing a team of 180 people, and why he decided to leave everything behind in Moscow to build design in Uzbekistan.

Here’s what we talked about:
Design in the 2000s
How the iconic album covers for Zemfira and Mumiy Troll were created.

Lessons from failure
How the 2008 crisis forced him to disband his team and taught him how to sell services from scratch.

Uzbekistan as a new IT hub
Why traditional NPS surveys don’t work there and how to research a market that skipped the email era entirely.

AI in real work
How neural networks already produce 95% of all outdoor advertising at Click, saving designers days of work.

Leadership without burnout
How to stop designing everything yourself and become a leader who grows talent instead of just giving feedback.

Watch, absorb, and don’t be afraid of change.
