How well do you know your client?
What do you know about their pain? Their dreams? The life they have and the life they want?
What do they do in situation X, and what should they do in situation Y?
It took me a while to understand that my ideal client avatar has layers.
In one scenario, she's married, has 1 to 3 children and runs her own coaching business.
In another, she's a mum and an entrepreneur, with a partner she isn't married to.
In another, she's 40, mum to one child, and separated. She has a coaching business to run and monetise, and on top of that, she's caring for one of her parents.
And so on. The scenarios are endless.
Then I draw the line.
1. What do all these versions have in common, and what don't they share?
2. What language do they use? Where do they spend their time?
3. How do they interact?
4. How open are they to opportunities, and where do they close off? What are their limits?
5. Do they have the courage to say no? If yes, why? If not, why not?
6. Do they have the courage to say no? If yes, why? If not, why not?
7. What have they tried before coming to you, and what worked or didn't?
8. What do they believe is stopping them from reaching the goal they want and feel they deserve?
9. What result do they want?
10. What are they willing to do for that result?
That last question is usually the one that sets up the winning shot. It forces you to put yourself out there and talk about what you do with courage and confidence. It asks you to be present in what you say, and to own it.
When you really know your ideal client, you realise there are several versions of them. And your texts and messages start connecting to the words already in their head, the ones they keep running on repeat.
So, do you know how many versions of your ideal client there are? Could you describe them without guessing?
