Publikace V první linii přibližuje dějiny Tělocvičené jednoty Sokol Jablonec n. N., která v roce 2025 oslavila 130 let od svého založení. Prostřednictvím bohatých archivních obrazových i textových materiálů mapuje vývoj spolku, jenž byl po dlouhá desetiletí trnem v oku nejprve německy hovořící většině ve městě a později komunistickému režimu.

Kniha sleduje osudy jabloneckých sokolů od roku 1894 přes obě světové války až k poválečným perzekucím po únoru 1948. Grafická úprava klade důraz na pečlivou typografii (kombinace Concrette od Displaay a našeho písma Aazirk) a jasnou hierarchizaci textu. Kniha pracuje s výraznou sokolskou barevností v tradičních odstínech červené a modré; vědomá volba kvalitního papíru spolu s pevnou šitou vazbou, oříznutými deskami a metalickou ražbou dále podtrhují její reprezentativní povahu. Připomíná kontinuitu spolku stojícího i přes opakované zákazy „v první linii“.

Custom typeface designed for Linserka, the newly opened cultural and creative centre in Liberec, housed in the renovated former Ch. Linser machine works. The letterforms draw from the building’s architecture—particularly the prominent circular window added during the renovation—as well as from the concept of ‘industrial roots meeting a cultural future.’ Consequently, the lower parts of the letterforms end in sharp right angles, while the upper parts are finished with rounded endings. This typographic treatment reflects the juxtaposition of the site’s historic industrial character with its contemporary cultural purpose, while creating a strong and distinctive typographic visual language.

Před pár týdny vyšel Font č. 200 s naší obálkou. A protože 200 je jiným zápisem CC, jsou na ní… dvě céčka. Ve zlaté metalické barvě, neb jubileum to není skromné! Mimochodem uvnitř najdete i profilový rozhovor s námi, dokonce hned jako první článek. Tak kupuj céčka, dokud jsou!

Font magazine issue no. 200 is out — that’s CC in Roman numerals. So for the cover, we had a little fun and turned those two C’s into… céčka. All in shiny gold metallic!

Oh, and by the way — the very first article inside is a profile interview with us. So grab your ‘céčka’ while you can!

(For those unfamiliar: céčka were colorful plastic clips from Czechoslovakia, originally meant as garment accessories. But in the 1980s, they became a huge playground craze — kids collected, traded, and even treated them like currency. A true pop culture relic.)

Adelheid. Plakát (a lettering) k výjimečné projekci komorního psychologického dramatu z roku 1969 o komplikovanosti mezilidských (a česko-německých) vztahů v Sudetech po konci druhé světové války. A také první Vláčilův barevný snímek, natáčený mimo jiné v Kryštofově Údolí. A právě zde jej můžete díky Petr Vondřich a Kryštofovo Údolí zhlédnout již příští sobotu v hospodě U Kryštofa.

It has been three years. Three years of full-scale war, three years of the killing of innocent people, three years of occupation in the eastern parts of Ukraine (and nine years of occupation in Crimea). But also three years of heroic resistance by Ukrainian soldiers, defending not only their own country but also the rest of us in Europe from the imperialist ambitions of Putin’s Russia.

Some people might be ‘tired’ of the war and would prefer it to end as soon as possible. But I believe no one wants peace more than the Ukrainians themselves. Yet surrender would not mark the end of the war—only the first phase of a much larger war.

Let us not forget this, and let us support Ukraine in every way we can. Слава Україні! Героям слава!
