A report submitted to the Board of Trustees of the University of Liberia has concluded that student Izetta Jones Howe emerged as the authentic and undisputed valedictorian (Dux) of the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, ending months of controversy surrounding the honor.

The investigative committee found that Howe achieved the highest cumulative GPA of 3.6471, following a comprehensive review that included the retrieval of academic ledgers, recalculation of grades in line with official university policies, and verification of academic records.

The findings appear to contradict earlier public claims by activist Martin Kollie, who had questioned the legitimacy of Howe’s academic standing and asserted that she was not the rightful Dux.

According to the report’s conclusion, inconsistencies in grade entry procedures and non-adherence to established academic guidelines contributed to the dispute. The committee further recommended systemic reforms, including stricter enforcement of grading policies and full utilization of the university’s e-portal for academic record management.

The Board of Trustees is expected to review the report’s recommendations as part of broader efforts to restore institutional credibility and strengthen academic governance.

Joint security personnel at the Jendema Border Crossing have arrested a Liberian Immigration Border Comander in Grand Cape Mount., Randy Tuweh, after he was reportedly found in possession of 60 boxes of tramadol.

The suspect was arrested at about 12:00 p.m. this afternoon according to security sources, the large quantity of the suspected drugs was discovered in his possession at the time of the arrest.

He is currently being held by officers of the Sierra Leone Police at the Mano River Police Station Jendema as investigations continue.

Joint security personnel at the Jendema Border Crossing have arrested a Liberian Immigration Border Comander in Grand Cape Mount., Randy Tuweh, after he was reportedly found in possession of 60 boxes of tramadol.

The suspect was arrested at about 12:00 p.m. this afternoon according to security sources, the large quantity of the suspected drugs was discovered in his possession at the time of the arrest.

Ghanaian Man Dies During Argument in Grand Kru County

A 40 year old Ghanaian man, Khafi Baidoo Jr., has died after collapsing during a heated argument in Bolloh Klaydeeper gold mining camp in Grand Kru County on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

Police say Baidoo collapsed during the dispute and later died while being taken for medical treatment. A 36 year old Liberian woman, Oretha Gmah, who is reportedly his sister in law, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Authorities say the exact cause of death is still unknown as investigations continue.

GRAND CAPE MOUNT COUNTY SENATOR SIMEON BOIMA TAYLOR DONATES ZINC AND CASSAVA PROCESSING MACHINES TO PORKPA DISTRICT CITIZENS.

Simeon Boima Taylor has donated zinc sheets to several individuals of Porkpa District in Grand Cape Mount County as the rainy season approaches, an initiative aimed at helping vulnerable citizens improve their homes ahead of the heavy rains.

According to Senator Taylor, the donation is intended to support families who may struggle to repair or roof their houses during the rainy period, which often brings challenges for many rural communities.

In a related development, Senator Taylor also presented two cassava processing machines for garri production to residents of Bamballah. The machines are expected to boost cassava processing in the community, providing farmers and women groups with improved tools to process their produce more efficiently and increase local food production.

At the same time, the community welcomed the gesture and expressed appreciation for what they described as a timely intervention that will help improve living conditions and support agricultural activities in the district.

They added that such contributions is timely and will improve the welfare of citizens across Porkpa District.
