With On the Edges 4, Hans Lüdemann and his TransEuropeExpress Ensemble continue their genre-defying journey across Europe’s cultural landscapes. Rooted in contemporary jazz and shaped by international influences, the project brings together leading French and German improvisers to explore the edges where musical languages meet and transform.

This fourth chapter turns towards Turkey, featuring Burcu Karadağ, a renowned master of the ney flute. Deeply embedded in Middle Eastern and Turkish musical traditions, the ney introduces a spiritual, meditative dimension that blends with Lüdemann’s modern jazz compositions. The result is a rich, layered dialogue between Western improvisation and Eastern tonal worlds.

Inspired by Lüdemann’s artistic residencies in Turkey, the album doesn’t quote tradition directly but translates personal impressions into a vibrant, cinematic jazz soundscape. Each track unfolds like a border crossing, where cultures collide, merge, and create something entirely new.

With TRAMA LATINA, Paolo Fresu, David Linx, and Gustavo Beytelmann come together to explore the deep musical ties between Europe and Latin America. Rooted in jazz and enriched by Latin American traditions, this project weaves together influences from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, and beyond into a rich, emotional soundscape.

From Linx’s expressive jazz vocals to Fresu’s atmospheric trumpet and Beytelmann’s piano shaped by tango and classical traditions, TRAMA LATINA is a tribute to cultural exchange, diaspora, and the powerful energy that flows between worlds.

Blending original compositions with reinterpretations inspired by legends like Astor Piazzolla and Milton Nascimento, the trio creates a cinematic, introspective journey that resonates far beyond borders. 🎶
