Lost in (mind)space, or how i could not find the right place to work.

Last friday I was in Amsterdam. Just 2 days. The second day I planned to work in a shared office.

I tried workspace 6, went there it was empty and noone at the reception, doors closed.

Big bags with me, pi**ed.

Next stop after another 20-30 march through the city: Mindspace Herzogenraatstr oder so

Ich kam nur rein weil jemand geputzt hat. Und es waren keine shared offices. Just normal workspace for some companies.

Learned that mindspace has 2 more buidings in town. All digitalized cant get in anywhere without your phone.

But doors opened for me I went in and saw mindspace reception took a break. So I sat down and had a break too.

Then the woman came gave a code a time and a price. 3 hrs were only left till they close at 6pm. What a joke. 32 € for that but „free coffee“.

End of the story: me sitting in a café and no stupid shared office. Worked a little for from there.

Took the train back by 8pm and hit Cologne by 0000.

Netherlands is so clean, I felt like I landed in a trashcan when I got back here. 😂

The gang and me, celebrating the last day at Mollie of the beautiful woman on the right side.

But wasnt I ment to attend to the developer meeting?

Yes, true. Just for a moment I had to hide in a talking cabin cause there was an important mail to write and eventually I wasnt into socializing much at the beginning. 😶

And I went upstairs for that cause my internet was also slower then snails. It took me 5 tries and 20m to send that mail.

Then suddenly everyone was applauding so I jumped out quick, joined the - all dutch speaking crowd - celebrating a curly woman in the middle. Smiling and applauding for her, whilst being at the totally wrong event at the same time.

Afterwards I understood that in the entry area there was this celebration for her leaving Mollie after 5 years for a new chapter in her career.

I felt like something is wrong when I realized that I am the only one with a name sticker on my shirt 🤭.

So in the end we had a laugh when I told them what happened earlier and why for a moment I was part of a different company then great2gether 😁

I remember a few names such as, Thomas who played table tennis, Jonas who tried to organize me coffee while the rest had beer, Irenka (or Ivanka?!) who has someone in her family with my prename, Samir who let me play table tennis against Thomas till 3 points (team mollie won 3:2) and of course Ksenia who I met before at the last developer meetup in my hometown Cologne.

If I ever get fired by myself I might consider working in Amsterdam for Mollie. The city is so full of life and colors that I am sad to drive back.

Het was onvergetelijk 🥰🫶

Der OMT Event ist vorbei. Was nehme ich mit?

Spannende Insights. Ein paar Fotos. Neue Freundschaften, Handschlag Deals und eine Sehnsucht das nächste Mal in Mainz dabei zu sein.

Was bringt die Zukunft?

KI bis in die Klobrille, weniger Hashtags auf Linkedin, eine neue strategische Partnerschaft mit .agency geheime Abkommen mit anderen Agenturen und wie jedes Jahr ein paar graue Haare mehr 😁

Ich bin fremdgegangen. Aber natürlich nicht mit sondern Marija & Luis vom Pilatesraum.net - die ihr Pilatesstudio morgen in Köln-Weiden eröffnen.

Nachdem ich meine Video Tasche entstaubt habe, durfte ich vor Ort ein paar Szenen für das Schaufenster-Video drehen. Es war mir ein Vergnügen und bin mir sicher, dass das Studio bald ausgebucht sein wird und wünsche viel Erfolg.

Fun Fact: Wir waren zwischendurch im Essen und ich habe und getroffen.
