These images were originally created as a classic photo portfolio - yes, you can flick through them :-) for the Update Salon 2024 in Berlin, where they were shortlisted for the Spotlight Awards in April ‘24. They are a homage to the photographic imagery of the mid-1990s and the attitude to life that it expressed. The technique of ‘crossing’, i.e. the reverse development of a colour negative film or, conversely, the negative development of a colour positive film, often produces extreme colour shifts, high contrasts, bright tones and a mostly coarse film grain. This look was very popular at the time because it reflected the era so incredibly well. It smelled like teen spirit, we remember. Now I've revisited the images and set them in motion.
The result is a music video with named "Kings of the cracks in the pavement". You can find all the lyrics to sing along to on my homepage https://www.tweda.net/page-8/. :-)
