Terrorism as strategic communication – chapter in “Routledge Handbook of Strategic Communication”
A terrorist attack is definitely a crisis situation. However, even apart from the attacks, the terrorists communicate strategically to various stakeholders: The write claims of responsibility, are interviewed by the media and try to recruit new members and state their motives via their own web pages. IRGoCC-member Liane Rothenberger has covered “Terrorism as strategic communication” from various perspectives. Her contribution was now published in “The Routledge Handbook of Strategic Communication”. The handbook is edited by Derina Holtzhausen (Oklahoma State University ) and Ansgar Zerfass (Leipzig University) and contains 37 chapters. Further IRGoCC-members contributed chapters covering the following fields: Martin Löffelholz, Claudia Auer and Alice Srugies wrote about Public Diplomacy, Andreas Schwarz and Alexander Fritsch dealt with international non-governmental organizations.
