2006–2016–2026 ✨ Same person. Different chapters.
In 2006 — 20 years ago — I was finishing my bachelor’s degree, saying goodbye to Lisbon and the comfort of home, and heading first to Prague, for some weeks, then to Paris, for some months .
That move marked the real beginning of my professional journey and set the direction for a career in International Business and the Media landscape.
The world looked very different back then.
The internet and e-commerce were just getting started. AI wasn’t even a conversation.
I was incredibly lucky to join early and be part of startup growing at lightning speed — one that was later acquired and merged with Oracle, today known as Oracle CX Marketing, helping B2B marketers deliver personalized digital experiences.
For context: LinkedIn was only 3 years old. Meta was 2.
We were early adopters. And, in many ways, disruptors.
In 2016, ten years later, I was already in Germany. The hockey-stick curve of internet, e-commerce, and social media was clearly visible — and I was right in the middle of it.
My responsibilities weren’t that different from today: managing a team of eight, running global media campaigns across multiple regions, working with KPIs that are still relevant now.
But TikTok was only just being created — funny, right?
And once again, AI wasn’t a topic yet.
Many of the people I worked with went on to grow into new roles, new challenges, and new agencies — Mindshare, Dentsu, Havas and beyond.
Ten years is a long time. Now I am with Havas ( natural move and a dream came true). Colors changed. Technology changed. People changed.
But the common thread — curiosity, desire, adaptability, and growth — has always been there. And I suspect it will be for the next ten years too.
Now I’m curious: what will 2036 look like?
