I’ve been studying the concept of figure and ground—how we separate object from space, substance from air. It felt academic at first, until it wasn’t.

Now, I see it everywhere: the negative space between tree branches like a map of the sky, the way a chair holds its shape against the white of a wall, the silent conversation between shadow and light in an empty hallway.

It’s like learning a new language for seeing. You don’t just look anymore—you read. You read the room, the world, the quiet architecture of the everyday. And there is no going back.
