💥3 easy ways to increase the reach of your posts immediately:💥

🤟Enhance your thumbnails🤟
No matter on which platform, the thumbnail is the first impression of your video. Speaking from a marketing point of view I would say that the thumbnail is as important as the video itself. Because if it is not engaging people will not click and see your clip at all. So take time to choose and optimize. A good thumbnail teases a story, shows emotions & is a closeup in colour and high resolution. ⚠️ For important video releases, create different thumbnails and see which works best.

🤟Tag'em all🤟
Tag other accounts in all of your posts. Always tag all band members, so they can reshare the post as well. Tag similar bands you are friends with (if it makes sense, do not start to spam). Tag your studio, video crew, superfans…whoever might repost and spread the word. Do not forget that it also makes people happy if you include them in your posts. At least do not forget to tag your location.

🤟Hashtags🤟
I see lots of rock & metal bands still not making use of hashtags. Clicking on the Insta Insight button, you can directly see the impact hashtags have on your reach on every post. So, no need to talk about if it makes sense to use them or not. I would suggest putting some effort into finding the right ones for your band (there are some tools to finding #’s) and making them your own. Make sure that they are neither too broad nor too attached to a niche. While would probably be too broad, would make sense if you are a rock band from Germany. Get a set of 15 that you can copy & paste for nearly every post and add 3-5 specific ones to each post.

Check your stats for what works best!👌

🖤This is and always will be my favourite Record of all time.🖤

Is it because it features the best songs ever written? Nope
Does it include the best songs the band ever wrote? Not really, maybe I would include 1 or 2 into their top list.

So why is this my favourite album?😬

💥It got me at the exact right time in my life and introduced me to a whole new world of heavy music.

💥I could 100% relate to the band and their story. I had just started playing guitar and was rebelling against the music mainstream. I had not yet started or joined a band but what Metallica did was exactly what I wanted to do.

💥The album is 100% authentic. Each song tells a story & has its own right to be on the record. It grabs you and wants you to find out more. It made me fall in love with the band.

Considering the times have drastically changed, what does this mean for your band?

- It is not enough to have good songs!!!(!)
Today this counts even more than back in the day. You need to tell your story and build connections to turn listeners into fans that will follow you for years. 🤘

Focussing on a big ad budget can bring you fame for a short period, but you will not see the return on invest, because ads alone do not convert listeners into fans.

That's why you need the right streaming & content strategy (organic & paid) for your upcoming release. We’re here to support your band throughout the whole release cycle to plan and implement the ideal strategy customized to your band to get the most out for your band and your music.

⚠️Bands⚠️: Do you plan to release around summer/autumn 22? Slots starting early summer are still available. Send us a DM. 🙂🤟

"Keep creating & sharing music in terrible times like these. Music helps people dealing with difficult situations and makes this world a better place."

I like to take the chance and thank every single one of my first 120 followers and all the bands I already enjoy working with. 🙏 Starting eleven manics went really past any expectations I had in January.

There will be no content post this week & I'm going to get my head clear next week snowboarding. I'll be back with fresh ideas after that. ✌

💥The one thing that holds most musicians back most is perfectionism💥

I have been practising perfectionism for far too long in my early career. Lots of songs have not seen the light of day; lots of mixes have been worked on way too long and sounded overproduced. A lot of opportunities have been missed.

If one works too long, overambitiously and alone on a creative project, many tend to lose sight of the actual priorities. This will inevitably have a bad effect on the quality of the final product.

An example that is probably familiar to many:

You're working on the 35th-FINAL4.3 mix of your song, trying to fix some issues with the hi-hat at 12 kHz. In reality, the hi-hat at 12kHz is not your main problem.😱

Let's jump 2 years into the future.:

You listen to the song again for the first time in years thinking: Why is the arrangement of this song so fu**ed up? How could we not have seen that back then?
It is because back then you lost track of what really adds quality to your music while remixing it for the 40th time. The issue was not the Hihat at 12kHz, or the sound at all, but the song arrangement.

How could this have been prevented? Here are some tips that will help you keep the focus on quality and output.

💥Get a second, unbiased opinion from someone you trust as early as possible in the process. Practice self-confidence in presenting unfinished & imperfect art. That'll help you grow as an artist.

💥Set yourself deadlines and stick to them

💥Be honest to yourself & always question everything. Don't think along the lines of "we've worked on this for so long, now it has to stay in the song!" Kill your Darlings!

💥Before you discard a creative idea, ask yourself: what would/could happen if I presented it to others?

I'm 100% convinced that you will grow as an artist sticking to these tips.
Can you relate to being a perfectionist?

+++What kind of content do people like to share?+++

Do you feel demotivated, because your posts are not being shared?😬 Probably your not posting the right things. Here is some crucial advice that will make your posts more engaging and sharable.

Make sure that your post falls into one of these categories: 💥Moving, Educational, Talented, Inspirational💥

Inspirational🗯: Everybody will share something that inspired him/her because we love to inspire friends with it. Think about your Lyrics and what inspired you. Think about what your band stands for and share your thoughts! But be accurate with your words, so that you're not running into danger that people take it the wrong way.

Talent🎸: People will share extraordinary talent. You got a musically impressive composition, solo, drum fill? Show it. Your Bass player is only 12 years but can slap like Flea from the RHCP? Film him practising. People will be impressed and are likely to share it with other people.

Educational👩‍🎓: People like to share knowledge with other people. Do you have the massive guitar sound? Show people how you created it. Tell about how you write songs or the best way you manage your Band business.

Emotional🤘: Music is all about emotions. People like your song when it speaks to their emotions. Think about other content that emotionally attracts people. Tell about your story and your passion. People that feel you will share your story. Are you a fun band? Don’t get me started on bass player jokes!...

That alone isn’t enough to grow your fanbase. Your post needs to follow current content standards, has to be authentic and consistent. I will talk about this in one of the next posts.✌

💥How to promote your single in 2022 (in a nutshell)💥

Micro-video (05-15 sec) is the thing in music marketing 2022. Here are a view reasons why:

The attention span of new listeners is extremely short. You have to get their attention within a few seconds or you lose them.

Video Posts are (usually) more engaging, interactive and personal than text or images.

Video posts build additional connections to potential listeners and help you with storytelling.

TikTok is on the rise and Insta holds against it, so the algorithm favours micro-video.

You cannot easily upload more than one minute of video content to Instagram or TikTok

How to create and post the micro clips:

Creat short sequences (5-15sec) using different visuals from your official video. In addition, create new clips. This could be for example your band performing the sequence live, acoustic, in the studio, in the car…try to be creative but authentic! 🤟🍻

Tap into peoples minds by only using the strongest sequence of your song. ⚠️
Why you should not use different parts of the song: The more often you get new listeners in touch with your hook line, the more the song creeps into his/her mind and create the desire to listen to it as a whole.

When posting the clip there should come a clear message with the post. What is coming out? Where do I need to go to hear/see it? When is it coming out? Why is it so good?

Start one week before single release consistently placing the clips on your socials. Keep on posting consistently until at least two weeks after release. Always put value to every post & do not repeat yourself.
⚠️Always keep in mind to keep your release strategy authentic, consistent, valuable and straight to the point.⚠️

We’re only scratching the surface here. At eleven manics we have worked out the perfect 2022 content release plan for rock and metal to promote your single. We can’t wait to implement it together with you. DM us or check out our HP to get in contact.✌

I see a lot of bands promoting their music like we’re still living in the ’90s where listeners first contact with new bands was via Radio, TV where major labels placed newcomers with huge budgets and predefined what to hear.

Nowadays listeners decide where they discover new artists. Our search for new music is always controlled by emotions. We all listen to music because we want to amplify or change the state of how we feel at the moment to the desired mood (something to think about!).🤟

Realising this, your marketing message must change from WHAT you are, to WHY you wrote the song. ⚠️ This is where you build connections to the emotions of new fans and get them hooked. Fans are also much more likely to dig the song because they already have the emotional connection.💥

Don’t believe me? Here is an example: You wrote a song about struggling with social isolation. Your message must change
from: “Bandname - Songtitle - Stream our new song!” to: “Do you feel the mental struggles during covid lockdown? Stream our new song to find out how we felt”

Triggering emotions by teasing your story gets listeners excited and draws new listeners in who would have never heard of your band.✌

3 ROCK MARKETING FAILS 2022 - Part 1💥
In this series, I will focus on mistakes often seen in rock & metal online strategy.

Fail 1: Not to post on TikTok🚫
“My audience is not there! This is just for kids! It’s not for us!...”
I do not want to talk about personal preferences. The plain facts are that:
- TikTok is the fastest growing Social Media platform with nearly 800 Million users so it is most likely that your audience is indeed on Tiktok if you create music that is of interest to people.
- Because of the platforms rapid growth, it is a lot easier to go viral than on Instagram. I doubt that this will still be the case in 2023/24. That is why it is important to hop on the train now.
- The focus on video (TikTok) is more suitable than the focus on images (Instagram) for musicians.

If you seriously want to grow your fanbase in 2022, there is simply no way around TikTok. No Idea how to get things started? DM us! 🤟

Fail 2: Focus on album instead of single release.🚫
The album is the holy grail. This is the old mindset, that I can definitely understand and relate to. But this counts for physical products, do not let this ruin your online strategy. With every single, you release before the album comes out, you get the chance to gain new fans and listeners that will later buy your album. Releasing only 1-2 Singles before the album was built on possibilities & consumption habits from past decades. You should think of at least 5 months of consistently releasing singles & content to build momentum and get the best results at album release.

Fail 3: Post plain YouTube & Spotify links.🚫
There are two major problems with this:

-The fan should have a good reason to click on the link that will take him to another platform, otherwise, he/she won’t take action. Posting only the link or “stream now” is not a valid reason.
-The platform algorithms do not favour these posts, because they lead customers away to other platforms and services.

To avoid these problems, you should always write posts that provide benefit to the potential fan. There are many exciting and creative ways to do this. Doing this right also helps you strengthen your music brand and band identity.

Start things right!⚠
It has never been easier to grow a worldwide fanbase as a musician, but at the same time, more music than ever is being released every week. That's why it’s crucial to have a strong and clear band image, to which potential fans can relate. A story that sticks out.
1.
At the very beginning of any release strategy, you should think of “Why are we doing this?”, “What makes us special?” and “What is our message?”
Having a clear answer to these key questions gives everyone in the band a better understanding of what the band stands for and where you are heading, which is crucial to the whole social media strategy that follows. The most important advice here is: be authentic! You should not make things up you do not feel comfortable doing. It just won’t work.
2.
As soon as you have a good feeling about your answers, it gives you the chance to see and define your characteristics, that connect to potential listeners. What mood does your music deliver that people might want to connect and search for? What are your beliefs that might attract new fans?  Does your music go well with other art forms where potential fans are waiting to hear from you? The list goes on...
 3.
Try to condense step 1 & 2 into 2 strong sentences that describe the uniqueness of your band and your message to new fans. You will want to use this for your Insta bio, Spotify and on all other digital platforms. This is also the groundwork for your audience targeting.
Conclusion:
This is probably the most important advice at the beginning of every online music strategy. The whole Social Media Content & Strategy builds on this. But it is still done wrong by most of the bands out there. Capture your niche, make it unique by telling your story to make your music interesting and appealing to new listeners.
If you want to dig deeper or need help with your band, send us a DM, or check out our website for more info. This is only the starting point from which we help bands create an authentic, exciting and engaging Streaming Strategy.
