Teachers, don't leave those kids alone

Teachers, don't leave those kids alone We invite you to travel through streets of Africa and refugee camps around Syria, in order to learn from those who know best – children.

Photo Galleries, presented by DNS The Necessary Teacher Training College students, are created with an idea to educate us about the big issues of today. The aim of this project “Teachers don’t leave those kids alone” is to promote values such as peace, equality and tolerance; to understand the real meaning behind the lack of education and peace. The Travelling Gallery has two parts :
The First one

, tells the story of street children in Africa. While touching topics such as poverty, child labor, limited access to clean water, religion, etc. it teaches us what love, togetherness and will are. The Second, ‘speaks’ about the most sensitive theme – peace. The images are stories of Syrian refugees - children, who seem to have lost everything, except peace.

Gallery in Sweden!

In a cozy, tiny, non-profit bookshop in Copenhagen, which is run by volunteers, Virginia, Karolina and Indie settled down to have some discussions about education and introduce DNS Necessary Teacher Training College. It was a very nice evening, thank you all!

One of the ways to use Peace Gallery for peace education:
Create workshop and try to define peace.
Do you define it as conflict-free, terror-free, non-violent environment?
Ask yourself why.
Ask yourself if we need to teach peace as we teach maths and history.
How to do it?
Define peace again!
Do you define peace as respectful, harmonic, happy environment?
Curtain.
Applause!

Today, during the International Peace day celebration we exposed the gallery to the public for the first time! Public was invited to leave comments which can become a part of the gallery in the future.

Here is some feedback:
“It is not easy to be a refugee kid from a war-torn country. Yet the kids are unique to be able to smile through all of that”
“It could be the best thing that happened in their lives. They found support and friendships.”
“Kids are kids and it is beautiful to see them smiling. They will grow as strong adults. It is better to give them happiness than anger to grow of.”
“Just kids being kids. It could have been my school.”
“It is very nice and overwhelming to finally see a gallery of refugee kids, that I would call – natural. I can clearly see the naturality and pureness in their faces. This is the first time I see this type of photo gallery and this is the best so far.”
“The dreams are stronger than fear! You reminded those kids! Thank you!”
“Simple happiness.”
“After seeing this pictures it makes me feel a bit sad and upset, but at the same time it is amazing that kids are kids who are a young souls and still have thus brightness. They are just simply children who can smile and laugh. But also there you can see from some of these faces how tough it is. I’s beautiful.”

Thank you all for the beautiful Peace day!

"Maybe we should develop a Crayola bomb as our next secret weapon. A happiness weapon. A beauty bomb. And every time a crisis developed, we would launch one. It would explode high in the air — explode softly — and send thousands, millions, of little parachutes into the air. Floating down to earth — boxes of Crayolas. And we wouldn't go cheap, either — not little boxes of eight. Boxes of sixty-four, with the sharpener built right in. With silver and gold and copper, magenta and peach and lime, amber and umber and all the rest. And people would smile and get a little funny look on their faces and cover the world with imagination. "
~Robert Fulghum

We would say it is necessary to work more on "ingredients", in order to create a perfect recipe. But isn't it a great idea? :)
