Sustainable Typesetting®, when applied to Henrik Pontoppidan's "Lykke-Per," involves reducing the book's length from the traditional compressed version of 832 pages to a sustainable typesetting version of 640 pages, while maintaining the same format. This reduction amounts to 192 fewer pages or a 23% decrease.
By collaborating with KLS PurePrint A/S🌱 and implementing various measures, we have achieved one of the most environmentally friendly and sustainable books possible.
In comparison to traditional book production, our Sustainable Typesetting® approach offers significant benefits🌱

*Print run of 400 books
KLS PurePrint A/S is Cradle to Cradle gold certified and all calculations and production methods live up to the highest standard.
Through our collaboration with KLS PurePrint A/S, we have successfully created a book that emits 3.5 times less CO2 than the average book produced.
Despite the further compression of 23% or 192 pages more than traditional typesetting, the Sustainable Typesetting® maintains a high level of readability and improves the overall reading experience. By incorporating type design and typesetting principles derived from years of experience in complex typesetting projects, we have achieved a balance that optimises both sustainability, economy and readability.
Switching to Sustainable Typesetting® from traditional book production offers a clear "trade-off" — a book that is significantly more environmentally friendly and sustainable, lower production costs and an enhanced reading experience.
