The atmosphere was amazing and inspiring, fostering fruitful discussion on an important topic: Global collaboration and human-centered design and communication are vital to transform agendas into accessible communication, with youth playing a key role in shaping sustainable futures.

The event takes place in New York as part of the Financing for Development Week and SDG Investment Fair 2026, hosted by ECOSOC, and will explore how integrating communication efforts and human-centered design to advance sustainable development can help push the objective forward by translating complex agendas into accessible communication and by investing in youth as agents of long-term transformation.

Phoenix Design Aid has successfully completed its annual audit of our management system!

We are proud to announce that the audit of our three ISO certifications and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) certification was successful, with the auditors confirming that we continue to comply with all certifications.

A remarkable result with no non-conformities โ€“ thank you to our dedicated team for their hard work!

Our ISO system includes Quality Management (ISO 9001), Environmental Management (ISO 14001) and Occupational Health and Safety Management (ISO 45001), while our SDG certification covers 10 targets within 4, 12, 13 and 17 (Quality Education, Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action and Partnerships for the Goals).

Your Communications Officer is not a magician. Yet, in many civil society organizations, they are expected to be a strategist, writer, designer, fundraiser, social media manager, media/PR expert and digital marketer โ€“ all at once.

The reality? Thatโ€™s not one job. Thatโ€™s an entire teamโ€™s workload.

Expecting one person to handle it all is not sustainable. Burnout is real, and when communications suffer, so does the mission.

: โ€“ At the heart of our commitment to education is our support for the PDAid Foundation, which empowers youth from disadvantaged backgrounds in Kenya, Tanzania and soon New York. Through mentoring, the foundation helps young people find the right direction for their future, showing the power of education and knowledge sharing.

During the past year, two scholarship beneficiaries graduated, five mentees completed the mentoring programme, and two ongoing scholarship beneficiaries continue their studies with great results.

Yesterday, we proudly joined an Africa Innovation Network seminar, hosted by Nordic-African Consultancy, on how Nordic companies are scaling up business in Africa.

Our new Deputy CEO, Stig Tackmann, joined the event at the Danish Export & Investment Fund (EIFO) in Copenhagen and shared insights into how Phoenix Design Aid works in Africa, from ISO-certified processes to partnerships that advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Thank you for a great seminar that provided a valuable opportunity to share perspectives, connect with inspiring peers and discuss the growing potential across African markets.

At a recent gathering hosted by Mr. Ravi and Ms. Ranju Batra in New York celebrating Paula Narvรกez Ojeda, Phoenix Design Aid had the privilege of presenting her with the Mandela book and bangle. This gesture was offered in recognition of a form of leadership that is often quiet, tested by adversity and sustained by principle. As shared that evening, the bangle stands as a symbol of leadership through hardship โ€“ an experience that has marked Ambassador Narvรกezโ€™s service across her years at the United Nations, including her tenure as President of ECOSOC.

Phoenix Design Aid had the honour of being part of the Mandela Book and Bangle project with the Nelson Mandela Library โ€“ a project that translates memory into meaning and leadership into a tangible symbol. Nelson Mandelaโ€™s legacy reminds us that true leadership emerges through endurance, moral clarity and the ability to hold a long view of justice even under profound personal cost. The bangle reflects Mandelaโ€™s belief that leadership is not domination, but service โ€“ anchored in dignity, restraint and humanity.

For Phoenix Design Aid, this project reflects a core belief: Communication is not only about visibility, but about values. The Mandela Book and Bangle initiative speaks to endurance, ethical leadership and the responsibility to carry history forward with care. It is a reminder that design, storytelling and symbolism can play a role in honouring those who lead with integrity, especially in moments that demand resilience.

We are grateful to have contributed to a project that celebrates leadership rooted in humanity, and to have marked this moment with Ambassador Narvรกez โ€“ whose public service continues to embody the spirit the Mandela legacy represents.
