How to generate influencer leads using email outreach automation

We were recommended to Pickmybrain.com and we sat down with them to discuss how to get more influencers to join their audience monetization platform

And not just any influencers, but coaches with an audience at least 100 thousand followers

So we compiled a long list of keywords to find coaches and business mentors, set up an instagram scraper to scrape all the relevant search results and then filtered for influencers who had a following of 100k+

This may not sound much, but we've had to scrape over 1 million profiles in order to find tens of thousands of relevant profiles so far

Unfortunately about 1% of them have emails on their profile. So we had to figure out another way...

We use Clay and Claygent with OpenAI API to find their emails using online searches and from the links in their bio

We initially set up 10 domains and 30 Google Workspace mailboxes, warmed them up and redirected to pickmybrain.com

It worked nicely from the getgo, but about 4 weeks after launch we had burned the email infra to the ground and needed to get 10 more domains and 30 more mailboxes

We took a new approach and started sending only 15 emails per day per mailbox to safely mitigate landing in spam and ensure longevity of the email infrastructure

We came up with a clever copywriting to grab the influencer’s attention in the inbox amongst all the emails they’re getting

Some may call it clickbait while we call it engineering for attention

We figured out what could be an email that they could not possibly leave unopened

And then we automated the email and followup sequencing with instantly.ai

After we receive positive replies, the client gets notified on Slack about it and they will try to respond as soon as possible to maximise converions

By now we've been running the campaign for roughly 3 months and have gotten 164 leads so far

It's a pretty wild case study which illustrates how a great partnership works between lead generation operators and high-output sales teams.

Marketing Parrot was hosting one of their conferences called Big Fish B2B sales conference

Since we have already generated leads for 6 different conferences which have all been a great success, it just made sense for Hando Sinisalu 🦜 to try out collaboration with us.

So we got to work...

We scraped all B2B marketers, Heads of Sales, IT Sales directors, Export companies' C-Level contacts from Linkedin

We set up email infrastructure on Google Workspace across different domains and mailboxes, warmed it up for 3 weeks before sending (so we can fly through the spam filters)

We crafted psycho-engineered copywriting to maximize the amount of people opening it (nowadays you need to work hard to stand out from all the emails in the inbox)

We automated sending emails and followups and reply management using Instantly.ai

This was a completely different project for us.

Indrek from Netspore reached out to me. He said they just built a super targeted list for their client Cannery.

… And they love building targeted lists, but building and launching outbound campaigns isn’t always their favourite activity.

Here is the playbook: if you want to sell modular houses, saunas or similar products across the globe, just follow our steps.

1. Set up 33 domains and 100 Google Workspace mailboxes

2. We scrape resorts, nature hotels, ranches, eco retreats, campgrounds etc from Google Maps

3. Scrape email addresses from the websites of these businesses

4. Validate if the emails exist using Icypeas

5. Craft copywriting with an irresistable value proposition

Here’s a quick breakdown of how we did it 👇

- We scraped ecommerce stores using various platforms across the EU using national business registries, category filters and revenue thresholds.

- Then we pulled contact data from merchant websites and ran it through strict validation to keep deliverability clean.

- Wrote a good copy that highlights how ESTO Group boosts checkout conversion and increases AOV for online stores.

- Set up dozens of warmed up mailboxes across multiple domains to reach inboxes reliably.

We know how many emails it takes to generate a lead in different niches and different geographical markets

On average we need to send 231 emails to generate a lead

What actually worked behind the numbers:
- Google Maps scraping for leads that are not being targeted that much
- Clay + AI for data enrichment (~$1,500/month for OpenAI API credits)
- I think a lot of our success just comes down to fundamentals such as using decent email infra and actually writing a good copy. I rarely see cold emails being written well.
