Baklazanas is a nomadic design studio focusing on visual branding and communication design for cultural, educational and governmental institutions.

work encompasses a full range of contemporary communication design services. Whether we work on a visual identity, poster, book design or illustration our designs seek to transform ideas into communicative graphics. Our cross-disciplinary, cross-cultural, and cross-industry team brings analytical skills and creativity together in order to balance emotional needs with business requirements. We combine a conceptual and strategic approach with expertise in the sphere of cultural branding into all phases of the project from the planning of the communication strategy, project management to the design implementation. Taking care of every detail and every single step of the design process we always work closely with our clients, no matter big or small, in one-to-one relationships. We strive for simplicity, geometry, color, direct typography and functionalism in all of our solutions. Our client list ranges from museums and non-profit art spaces to theatres, film producers, publishing houses, universities and research organizations, fashion brands, private charitable institutions, socially conscious organizations, and more.

Mishkat (‘Lantern’) mission is to serve as a welcoming cultural hub that brings people together, fosters meaningful social connections, and celebrates Arab culture.

Through inclusive programs and diverse workshops, it aims to create a space where individuals of all ages and
backgrounds can connect, share, and engage in enriching cultural experiences.

Another one best of the best projects from last semester I definitely need to share!

Revolutionize access to books and learning in Egypt, By bringing a mobile library directly to the
streets, offering a convenient and innovative way for residents to borrow books, enjoy reading on the go, and experience a cafe-like atmosphere while engaging with literature, including an opportunity to join city tours each going through the chosen audio book.

Most of the young adults or teenagers nowadays the thought of visiting a library won’t even cross their minds. That is why we thought of creating a mobile library to re-introduce the culture of libraries in a way to match their needs and grabs their attention, in order to create a community that is well educated and highly aware of almost all different aspects in life and to expand their horizon.

Hoping to build a unique relationship between young adults/ teenagers and libraries by creating modernised services meeting their expectations and being the nearest to their dreams, and accessible to everyone, regardless of their schedule or location.

Finally showing one of my favorite projects from the previous semester:
Neuronest is a sensory-centered brand that creates inclusive, calming spaces and tools for neurodivergent individuals, especially those with OCD. Through the design of multi-sensory experience rooms and a carefully crafted visual identity, Neuronest supports emotional regulation, focus, and mental ease, offering a quiet refuge for those who often feel overwhelmed by everyday environments.
The project began with a clear mission: to reimagine the role of public institutions, like libraries, as inclusive spaces for mental wellness. Libraries are usually associated with silence and focus, but not always with comfort or emotional regulation. Neuronest addresses this gap by creating designated areas where neurodivergent visitors can retreat, decompress, and return to themselves without fear of judgment or interruption.

Sharing with you another cool project from last semester from my students

Horizon 29
(Floating art exhibition)

Horizon 29 is a floating art exhibition held aboard a boat on the Nile, anchored in front of Misr Public Library. Visitors step into a curated experience where scanning artworks unlocks personalized recommendations— anging from books to workshops designed to deepen engagement with each piece.

By participating in these activities and following through, visitors earn rewards that encourage continued exploration. Horizon 29 is dedicated to supporting local artists and strengthening Egypt’s contemporary art scene.

The project has also expanded globally: in Fujairah as Horizon 23, where it focuses on seasonal summer exhibitions, and in Madagascar also as Horizon 23 with a strong mission to highlight the richness of the local art and craft traditions and raise awareness about the country’s creative talent.

Another great project from the previous semester i would like to share. Diraya. An Immersive experience.
This app transforms the greater cairo library into an interactive experience, attracting visitors with literary adventures, discussions, and ar puzzles inspired by princess samiha. Users can join book clubs, unlock rewards through quests, and book a book. A live map guides them to books and hidden clues, making exploration fun and engaging.

Project: RootSociety (Botanical Learning Workshops)

RootSociety is a community-driven botanical education brand that transforms urban spaces into interactive, green learning environments. By blending nature with design, the brand offers hands-on workshops, guided walks, and plant-based tools that inspire people - especially youth - to reconnect with the environment. RootSociety empowers individuals to care for plants, engage their senses, and co-create a greener future.
