Self-Serve Advertising Terms
The following terms (“ Self-Serve Advertising Terms ”) or “ Self-Serve Advertising Terms ” apply to your use of Meta Products (such as Self-Serve Advertising Interfaces and APIs) to create, submit and/or display any advertisements, content, sponsored activities, or other commercial websites (collectively, “ Self-Serve Ad Interfaces ”) and to any order you place through Self-Serve Ad Interfaces (“ Order ”).
You can target the audience you want by buying ads to appear on Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, our publisher network, or anywhere else we display ads.
When you place an order, you will need to tell us the type of advertising you want to buy, the amount you want to spend, as well as your bid. If we accept your request, we will display your ads when ad inventory becomes available. Subject to Section 5, when your ad is shown, we will do our best to display the ads to the audience you select or to achieve the result you want, although we cannot guarantee that your ad will reach its intended goal or achieve the desired result in all cases.
Your ads must comply with all applicable guidelines, laws, and regulations, as well as our Advertising Policies . Failure to comply with these Terms can result in a variety of consequences, including cancellation of advertisements you have placed and termination of your account.
We can refuse or remove an ad for any reason.
You will pay for your orders under the following terms:
You must comply with the terms of payment operations in the community to the greatest extent possible.
You must pay all of the specified amounts for each order you place, plus any taxes due. The amount you owe for each order is calculated based on the tracking mechanisms we use.
By submitting the application, you grant us the right to obtain a personal and/or business credit report from the credit bureau, either upon submission of the application or at any time thereafter.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your advertising account, and understand that you will be charged for any orders placed by or through it.
If you are making a payment by direct debit, you agree that we can charge any amount within the range you agreed to upon registration. We will notify you in advance if any request exceeds the agreed range.
You can cancel the order at any time, but your ads may continue to run for 24 hours after you tell us, and you'll still be responsible for paying for all ads that have been played.
The amounts we collect from you may be subject to and include applicable taxes and fees, including but not limited to withholding taxes. You are responsible for bearing and paying any taxes that apply to your transactions. You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim arising as a result of your failure to do so.
If your payment method doesn't work or your account is overdue, we may take additional steps to collect the overdue amounts. You agree to pay all expenses related to such collection, including reasonable attorneys' fees. Overdue and payable amounts are subject to interest at 1% per month or the maximum amount permitted by law, whichever is less.
We allow you to purchase ads using an "Advertiser Credit", which is a pre-paid balance that can only be used to purchase ads on Meta. Advertiser credits are only for commercial purposes. Advertiser credits cannot be refunded except as required by law. The Meta Company is not a bank, does not offer banking services, and therefore Advertiser Balances do not earn any interest, are not considered deposits, and are not insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Services Compensation Scheme, or any other entity or insurance scheme, whether governmental or private.
Depending on the payment method you use, you will fall into one of two categories: an invoiced customer or an unbilled customer. Billed customers are customers to whom Meta has assigned a maximum spend and billed for payments periodically in accordance with the applicable billing terms. Non-invoiced customers are customers who must make payment at the time of purchase. In its sole discretion, Meta may classify customers as billable customers based on factors such as advertising spend and creditworthiness.
You acknowledge that we do, from time to time, run tests on self-serve ad interfaces and related systems, which may affect your use and experience, including the performance of advertising campaigns. You acknowledge and agree that we may conduct tests as notified in these Terms, including assessment of format, relevance, pricing, reporting, targeting, and display.
We will make decisions about the size, placement and location of your ads.
Ad scheduling is subject to service availability and may not be continuous.
We do not guarantee the reach or performance that your ads will achieve, such as how many people will see your ads or how many clicks your ad will get.
We cannot control how clicks are generated by our ads. We have systems in place that attempt to detect and filter out some click-related activity, but we are not responsible for click fraud, technical issues, or other potentially invalid click-related activity that affects the cost of ads to be shown.
Our license to display your ad ends once you complete your order. However, you acknowledge that you understand that:
Once displayed, advertisements are considered general information. Ads may be re-shared or reached outside of their intended audience (including through a page or profile, an Instagram professional account running the ads or within Meta Products). If users interact with your ad, your ad may continue to exist on our Products ( for example, your ad may remain shared until users delete it or remain visible to users through their account tools).
If you are advertising about social issues, elections or politics , Meta may (at no additional cost to you) display or provide access to all of the above for up to seven years from the completion of your application.
You agree to allow Meta to disclose your advertising content, and all information associated with your ads, to a government entity or agency if Meta believes such disclosure may aid a legal investigation.
We'll provide you with reports on the types of people who see your ads and how those ads perform. Your use of these reports is subject to the data use restrictions in our Advertising Policies . We may provide a business, and all those who advertise for that business, with information about the number of ads that run for the business across Meta Products and any restrictions that apply to those ads.
We provide tools that give our users transparency about how Meta ads work and give them control over their advertising experience, including enough information to make it clear to them why certain ads appear to them. You agree that information associated with your ads may be included in these tools, and that these tools can affect your ability to display ads to these users or prevent them from seeing your ads.
You may not issue any press release or make any public statements about your relationship with Meta or Meta Products, without our prior written permission.
If you submit ads on behalf of someone else, you must have permission to serve those ads, and agree to the following:
You represent and warrant that you will bind the advertiser, by virtue of the powers you acknowledge that you have, to the Self-Serve Advertising Terms and Conditions of Service, and Terms of Business Transactions , to which you also agree.
If the advertiser you represent breaches these Self-Serve Advertising Terms, Terms of Service, or Terms of Business, we may hold you liable for that breach.
You agree that we may provide campaign reporting information to the final advertiser for whom you place an order to run the campaign.
We may ask you to review and agree to supplemental terms that apply to your use of a particular feature or functionality made available through self-serve ad interfaces. To the extent that these Supplemental Terms conflict with these Self-Serve Advertising Terms, the Supplemental Terms will govern with respect to your use of the relevant feature or functionality solely to the extent of the conflict. We may change or update these Self-Serve Ad Terms from time to time, and your continued use of Self-Serve Ad Interfaces constitutes acceptance of those changes.
Contracting party:
If you live or are headquartered in the United States or Canada, Meta Platforms, Inc. provides self-serve ad interfaces.
If you are not located in or your main business is located outside of the USA or Canada, the self-serve ad interfaces are provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, advertisers in some countries may be subject to special provisions relating to the orders they place, including, under certain circumstances, contracting directly with affiliates of Meta solely for the purposes of placing orders. If this applies to you, you can find those special provisions that apply to your orders here.
For the avoidance of doubt, regardless of who you contract with (as described in Sections 16.a, 16.b, and 16.c), the Meta Advertising Policies (and its Community Standards as incorporated by them) under the Terms of Service are enforced by the entity providing the Products Meta in accordance with the terms of service applicable in your region.
Any claim, cause of action or dispute arising out of or related to the Self-Serve Advertising Terms will be subject to the Dispute Resolution clause of the Terms of Business Transactions.
These Self-Serve Advertising Terms will cease to apply if the Commercial Transactions Terms cease to apply, but the following provisions will continue to apply: the introductory paragraph and Sections 2 and 4, 8 through 12 and 15 through 18.
