Why is it that so many aspiring online entrepreneurs fail to get off the ground?
In spite of the countless claims about how easy it is to make money online, the vast majority of those who start fail to make any money at all, or far too little to sustain them.
There are many reasons why, including:
• Unrealistic Expectations
• Insufficient knowledge
• Trying too many things at once
• Chopping and changing between opportunities
• Chopping and changing between advertising and promotional methods
• Failing to sustain the effort long enough
• Etc., etc.
The reason why new business start-ups that take up a franchise opportunity are far more likely to succeed than those who go it alone is because they are following a well tried and tested formula that has proved to be successful. And while success can never be guaranteed (a lot depends on the commitment and effort of the business owner) a franchise takes a lot of the guess-work, opportunities to take the wrong path, etc., out of the equation and provides training and support to sustain the business during the crucial few months of its existence.
It’s for exactly the same reasons that some online start-ups succeed while the majority do not. Those that take advantage of training and mentoring programs to learn about and understand the online marketplace and take advantage of practical help and support are far more likely to not only survive but proposer than those that don’t.
But be wary. There are many out there claiming to provide such support, so how do you choose the right one for you?
I tried a number before I found the right one for me. My criteria were that the provider would have to have a proven track record of successful online marketing over many years, trained and mentored many successful clients and have a very practical down-to-earth method of training and mentoring that would resonate well with me. Fortunately for me I found Dean Holland and his Internet Profits organisation who met all of my criteria and more.
His advice for any beginner is to start their online marketing journey by becoming an Affiliate marketer, initially at least. All this means is that you start by promoting other businesses products and services and earning commissions on those sales. That made a great deal of sense to me as it meant I didn’t need products or services of my own or the ability to provide them to customers as all that would be taken care of by the business I was acting as an affiliate for.
What really struck a chord with me was his unequivocal view that simply having access to training did not, of itself, guarantee success. Rather it is what you DO with the information and what you DO about the opportunity that is available to you that matters. He was also keenly aware that, left to our own devices, how easy it is to go off track.
Even more impressive, Dean had devised a fool-proof starter program to get anyone up and running called the Quick Start Challenge. In as short a time as 7 days (or as long as you chose if you want to go at a slower pace) you could have:
• A step by step process to launch a “ready-to-profit” affiliate marketing business
• A “done-for-you” email list building system so you can be ready to start building your list from scratch
• Several affiliate offers that can start making you commissions as soon as you start
So, in summary, it was about following a well laid out path that many others had successfully followed before and having a helping hand all along the way.
